Survivor Holidays: All Stars Episode I “Unlevel Grounds”
Saint Patrick’s Day: Christopher, JoJo
Independence Day: Missie, Shaun
Halloween: Angie, Ashley, Drew, Isaac, Jake, Jon
Valentine’s Day: Beth, Elisabeth, Jamie, Jenne, Kyle, Lisa, Rami, Ryan, Taylor, Tenzil For some it had been well over a year. For others, slightly less. For a vast majority of the cast, the game was fresh. Fresh wounds, fresh heartbreaks, fresh friendships…fresh enemies. It was a new territory, yet the stories of each of the twenty Survivors of the Holidays series lived on. With ties and connections between these castaways amounting to a tangled web, no one was certain of his destiny. Missie: Wow, we are all fools... fools I say! And that’s what everyone was feeling as they eyed the twenty individuals around them, sitting in the boat, water spraying up, wind whipping their faces, furtive glances bouncing from one person to the next. From St. Patrick’s Day, the first installment of the Holidays series sat Christopher Collins, a thirty-one year-old theater owner from San Francisco, confidently as it seemed. Just a brief scan of the people around him assured him of many familiar faces, one of those being JoJo Treadwell, a thirty-nine year-old homemaker from the southern end of California. She caught his gaze, gave him a stealthy wink and then perused the people around her. From Independence Day, the second addition of the series was Missie Bird, the outspoken thirty-four year-old insurance agent from Michigan. She was one of the most well known players from all four seasons, and rightly so. There was no other like Missie. Yet with all her skill and reputation for being quite the player, she was as uneasy as anyone else. At the moment, the only longevity she felt for herself in the game rested in the familiar faces of Shaun Hampton and Isaac Miller and quite possibly Taylor Napier. These were the returning season two players. Shaun Hampton, the twenty-six year-old sales representative from New York sat quietly at the edge of the boat. For all the hooplah he caused in his initial season, he was content to be reserved and observant. From Halloween, the third game of the series came Ashley Miller, an eighteen year-old student from UCLA. Sitting directly next to her was Isaac of the same sir name with no relation, and though a veteran of the Independence Day game, he was much more known from his role as Zach in Halloween. Also returning as the winner of Halloween was AJ, or as his parents would refer to him, Jake Erickson. Jake made his Holiday debut in St. Patrick’s Day alongside JoJo and Christopher, but would clearly argue that his skills came into play during his second attempt. The Halloween game had served him well. It was only right that he return for his third try in the big all-star game. Angie Cristobal, the thirty-four year-old homemaker from Alabama, was another integral cast member from Halloween. She had already come into the game with a goal in mind, and that was to prevent the groups of friends from running away with the game. She had witnessed it while following Valentine’s Day; she feared it happening again. Jon Kennedy, the high school student from Canada, and Drew Herlitz, another teenager from Wisconsin rounded up the final players from the Halloween season. Perhaps the most daunting group of players were those returning from the fourth and most recent installment of Survivor: Holidays, and those were the players from the infamous Valentine’s Day game—the alleged most intense game of the entire series. The winner of said game was Beth Sowles, the forty-five year old administrative support from Michigan, and sitting next to her was her partner in the final two, Tenzil Goodman. These were, perhaps, the two most feared contestants of the entire current twenty. But Tenzil sat quietly, indifferently, with his arm over Beth’s shoulder. Sitting predictably next to Tenzil was his lady, Jamie Drayson. They had sparked quite the romance in their former game, and no one was ignorant of it. Jamie sat, smiling, with her hand on Tenzil’s leg, hiding nothing of their bond. But Jamie had other things in mind. Still Jamie patted his leg and smiled endearingly at him. Another friend of Michael “Tenzil” Goodman was that of Jenne Lotz, the twenty-four year old student and nanny from southern California. While not the most excited of the cast to be embarking up another Survivor adventure, Jenne was just as happy to see the many friends around her. Tenzil was and would always be a good friend to her as was Beth Sowles. Down on the other side of the boat was one of her best friends in life, and that was Christopher Collins. So, the boat was filled to capacity with friends of Jenne. Much to Beth Sowles’ shock and dismay, Elisabeth Marie had joined the cast. Beth had no idea the seventeen-year old from her own state had even been considered to play until she stepped foot on the boat. In fact, Elisabeth was a shock to most everyone. But Beth had previously voted Elisabeth out in three other games, so the blood between them wasn’t necessarily good. Though, the cute blonde girl smiled contently as she mingled with her fellow contestants, even threw a genuine smile in Beth’s direction. On the other side of Beth was Taylor Napier, the fourth in the foursome with Beth, Tenzil, Jenne. Taylor was a twenty-two year old physical therapist in training who played in Independence Day, but his fame came with his fourth place finish in Valentine’s Day. More than anyone else, Taylor was anxious for the game to start—had been all year long. Kyle Adams the twenty-nine year-old computer programmer from Texas was just as mixed up as the rest of them. His hopes of playing in the great all-star game had always been up in the air because he finished one place outside of the final five. But now he was here, he wondered just where the close bonds he had formed with the people who had played him in Valentine’s Day would lead him. Perhaps far, perhaps to the same place? If he was to get anywhere in the game, did he want to get there by easy padding? Kyle was torn. There was a whole new sea of characters he really wanted to meet and connect with. Perhaps the most shocking returnees from the fourth season were Lisa Smith, the thirty-eight year-old homemaker from Wisconsin, Rami Ghoener, the twenty-two year-old independent business owner from Washington state, and Ryan Appel, the twenty year-old student from Canada. No one, even those from other seasons had expected any of these three to return for another try, especially since Lisa had been the famous first boot. Ryan and Rami, more commonly known as the R Twins were back for more drama, much to many people’s dismay. So these created the brand new and final installment of the Holidays series. Three seasons, twenty individuals a thousand possibilities. One thing was certain: the road would be long…

Day 1
When they arrived at their destination, no one knew where in the world they were. No one knew anything but that they were in for one of the most difficult games of their lives, and rightly so. Those such as Missie Bird and JoJo Treadwell stared at the overwhelming group of Valentine’s Day players, wondering just how they would defeat such. Comprising of a little more than half the cast, season four looked unbeatable. Jake Erickson, who had initially played in the first season and then once again in the third as AJ inched up to his old friend JoJo and whispered subtly to her.
Jake: I can’t believe over half here are from season four. JoJo: Eleven season fours. Unfair, unfair, unfair.
Almost at the same time, Missie Bird nudged young Isaac Miller in the arm.
Missie: What do you think about this game? Isaac: I don’t know. I think it looks interesting. It’s scary, though….so many season four people. Missie: Lots of season four people. But JoJo says they all don’t get along.
Isaac glanced over to where Tenzil, Beth, and Jamie sat. Jenne was close by. Directly across from him were Drew Hertzil and Rami Ghoener—faces expressionless. Kyle Adams also had an unreadable look about him.
Isaac: Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard. Missie: We could really use that.
After filing out of the boat and onto the marina Karen Trahan greeted them warmly.
Karen: Welcome to Karen Land. This is my land, and to suit it’s purposes has been renamed to All Star Island. I promise you it is no less luxurious than the Hawkskill Resort in Antigua!
Many from Valentine’s Day silently cheered and smiled at each other, remembering the haven that was season four, minus the drama.
Karen: All I have for you now is to get acquainted, and tree-mail reading for your first challenge will be tomorrow at noon. Challenge to follow shortly.
She swept her arms to introduce to them to huts along the beach which they would call home for the next thirty-nine days. It was heaven. It was luxury. It was a vacation. It would be utter…Hell.
With that, Karen smiled and left them. They hurried over to their individual huts, all personalized and chock full of necessities. Old friends reacquainted themselves, former enemies shook hands and hoped for amends. Romances continued. Current friends gathered together hoping for safety along the way.
Christopher Collins sat back and smiled as he took in the chaos which was the beginning of the game of Survivor. Watching the pandemonium of introductions around him, he took detailed mental notes. Kyle Adams dropped his bags and swept Jenne Lotz up in a tight embrace. Tenzil Goodman carried Jamie Drayson’s bags to her hut while Jamie chattered on with Angie Cristobal. Christopher snickered when Missie Bird approached gingerly to engage Tenzil in a friendly conversation. Jamie appeared none too pleased.
Christopher had no sooner settled in his room before someone came knocking. Christopher: My favorite real world best buddy!
Jenne bounded in and leapt into his arms.
Christopher: How weird is it to be playing with all these people we have never met when we actually know each other! Jenne: It’s weird! Christopher: Not sensing a whole lot of Christopher love. Jenne: Not sensing a whole lot of Jenne love, either. It stings, it hurts…but who cares! I’m feeling so much bitchier for this game than before. I’m like, screw you...screw you...especially screw you…and you in the corner, yeah, screw you, too! Christopher: Screw ‘em! I’m gonna love finally getting to play a game with you, baby! Jenne: It’s the oddest thing that we met through Survivor Central and yet have never played a game together. I’m only here because of you. If they go after us because we are real friends, then they suck. Christopher: I hope we get to play for a long time. Make it last and all. And I hope we don’t stay in one big tribe. Too hard to control things. Jenne: Too many people to keep track of. I had a hand in both tribes of Valentine’s Day. Exhausting! Well, I’m sure once the dust settles we’ll have time for meet and greets. We’ll be in one large group to stir up as much drama as possible before the challenge.
So the day wore on. Tenzil and Jamie were expected to resume the love they had begun in Valentine’s Day, and while Jamie adored him, she had other things in mind as far as game strategy. It seemed like her options were fairly open between Tenzil, and a newfound friendship with Beth, and a whole new respect for her once archenemy Kyle. In fact, Kyle and Jamie made a new connection the moment they saw each other on the boat.
Kyle: Do you think anyone would suspect us? Jamie: Not if we play it off…and subtly.
Taylor immediately picked up the friendship he and Kyle had formed during season four and began at once dropping names for his first choice of boots—namely Shaun from Independence Day. Kyle listened intently, not exactly sure what route he was going to take.
Taylor: This will seem cocky, but I don’t really know if we have much to worry about. Kyle: We as in me and you? Taylor: Yup.
Kyle considered him for a moment and then swept the aisle of huts where eighteen others were settling. There were so many familiar faces and old friends. There were so many strangers, and with this conglomeration was a whole new realm of possibilities.
Kyle: Well, let’s hope. There are four people that make me slightly nervous. Taylor: Who’s that? Kyle: Ryan, Rami, Drew, Jamie…although, I don’t even think Drew is capable of taking a lead. Taylor: Rami isn’t either. People just don’t like him. Ryan is the person I want to get really close to…just because. Kyle: Most definitely. I don’t know how I’m going to approach Jamie. I don’t really want UFC round four with her. Taylor: I’ve talked with her already and she was fake nice. Brought up the point of season four sticking together. Kyle: It could work at that, but eleven people is a rather large and unruly alliance. Taylor: Well, I wanna trim the fat. But we need to get rid of a few non-season fours first…like Shaun. Kyle: Means nothing to me. I haven’t even talked to him yet. Ashley could work well for an early boot. Are you friends with Missie? Taylor: I love Missie, but I wouldn’t trust her. I think she is an excellent player and a huge threat down the line. But she likes me a lot, and I think I can use that.
While others were busy rekindling and striking up old bonds, the excellent player in Missie was threatened. Intimidated by the larger group of folks from Valentine’s Day she began snatching up those familiar to her otherwise known as Isaac and Shuan. At the same time, Taylor, in an effort to keep a powerful Missie close by his side, played up to a possible trio of Missie, Isaac, and Shaun—if for no other reason but to keep Missie’s powerbase his own. Still, others floated, waiting patiently to see the first corner the game would take. To the naked eye, it looked as though seasons were banding together, and while St. Patrick’s Day, Independence Day, and Halloween all feared those from Valentine’s Day…Valentine’s Day feared itself the most.
As the challenge loomed, an activity which the camp unanimously agreed would most likely be a code breaking challenge, strategy began in an aggressive way.
Kyle: So, Taylor tells me you’re in his camp.
Kyle and Missie headed to the resort together. Taylor awaited them at the main restaurant, and Kyle kept a constant watch over his shoulder, hoping no one would see him mingling with Missie—a name that had already been tossed around as an early target. Kyle’s plan: to cut the powers as they surfaced and what better way than to use their very own targets?
Missie:That’s funny. I have talked a lot with Taylor and would like to work with him. What is he saying? Planning? Kyle: Well, I have been low key. A little nervous about getting duped like last time. He said that you are awesome and that we could trust you. Missie: I would totally love to work with you two! Who else does he think would work with us? Kyle: See, I don’t know, and I’m afraid to say much else. Missie: I talk to Taylor a lot. Isaac and you a bit. I’ve talked to Beth. Talk to Jamie a bunch, but not about game…it’s odd. Kyle: I only met Isaac briefly. Missie: He’s a good kid. What are your thoughts, if any, on Shaun? Kyle: Haven’t met him. Don’t even know who he is. Missie: He mentioned to me he’d like to work with me a bit closer this time. I don’t know that he has anyone else. Kyle: I’m really anxious to see which direction this game is going to take after the challenge…tribes, no tribes, alliances…blah blah blah! Missie: I know it. I worry that others are already planning to run those of us over that aren’t a part of them. Kyle: Like what happened to me before. What do you know about Shaun? I’ve heard rumblings of his ruthlessness…is it too early to brainstorm a first boot? Missie: Who would you like to see gone? Kyle: I don’t know anything. I’m afraid to get duped by friends, if you know what I mean.
Missie nodded, understanding completely. They were faced with a daunting group of connections—unbreakable groups as it seemed.
Missie: I’ll tell you this. I want a solid alliance, and I am willing to commit to you and Taylor. Would be nice to have one or two more. I’d love to work with JoJo, maybe Beth…or Liz. Ashley told me she was an outcast. She told me earlier she felt like they all hated her. Kyle: Why? The game hasn’t even started yet. Missie: From her game…Halloween.
They finally approached the restaurant and Taylor waited there patiently.
Missie: So, we talked. I’m down for working with you guys. I’d love to have some type of plan. With twenty people, we need all we can get. Taylor: We just need to sit down and talk together, draw something up. Missie: What we’ve gathered is that Ashley feels like an outcast from her season. I don’t know what you know about her. Isaac is a good kid…and Shaun came to me wanting to work together. I know you’re not liking that at all.
Taylor remembered his dealings with Shaun during Independence Day—before Taylor returned for another try in the fourth season. Shaun had virtually led to his eviction.
Taylor: I’m sure you understand me being a little more than apprehensive to work with Shaun, but I’m cool with it.
So, one of the first alliances of the game was brewing though Shaun had scarcely left his hut. No one had seen him about throughout the afternoon since they had landed earlier that morning. He was doing nothing positive for his game, and Missie knew it. Still, Taylor and Kyle seemed like solid options.
But when Missie left Taylor and Kyle alone, Kyle had his own questions.
Kyle: So, are we really with her? Taylor: We are semi with her. As long as it benefits us we are. Kyle: Missie’s telling us to get to know Shaun, but he is who you’re wanting out first. Taylor: I do, but we can backdoor him. I would rather get rid of Shaun to neutralize Missie’s options. Kyle: She does seem to be very aggressive right now
It seemed like a risky situation working with Missie and Taylor but it seemed like the perfect opportunity keep Kyle in the know of camp dynamics. At the moment, his loyalties lay with Jamie. This would certainly need to be passed along to her for communication’s sake. But he would play along.
Taylor: Keep your mouth shut, though Kyle:Yes, sir! I’m going back to the hut, so I’ll talk to you later. Taylor nodded and watched him go before he turned back around thoughtfully. There were so many options and Taylor was glad to be able to choose. At the moment, he was feeling very secure.
But Kyle was not one hundred percent pleased as he made his way back to the hut.
Back at the aisle of huts Jamie Drayson watched Tenzil Goodman walk away from her hut. She was happy. She was excited. She was conflicted. She was torn. She and Kyle had formed a true bond throughout the year since Valentine’s Day had ended, and once they discovered both had been accepted into All Stars, they immediately joined up. But Jamie had also made amends with Beth, and Tenzil was a given. Still there was another great portion of the cast she had yet to meet.
But Beth had other plans in mind besides working with Jamie. She made a mutual bond with JoJo Treadwell throughout the year and any workings with her were a given in Beth Sowles’ mind. There was also Jenne and Christopher and Tenzil and Taylor…a whole slew of people Beth knew would support her. Thus she could not ever vote them out. But there was one person that made her the most nervous of all.
Beth: Oh…my…gosh! Lis is playing! JoJo: You mean Lisa? Beth: Well, her too ! But Lis…Elisabeth! JoJo: Ashlee.
Elisabeth had played beneath the guise of Ashlee in the fourth installment of the Holidays series. Beth: From my season alone…Beth, Lis, Lisa, Jamie, Jenne, Kyle, Rami, Ryan, Taylor, Tenzil, Drew…eleven people! JoJo: Wasn’t Lis the one that said, Thanks, Beth?
Beth had also played in disguise in the fourth season as Gracie Addison. One notable moment from the saga was Ashlee calling Beth out as her torch was being snuffed at the conclusion of the fourth tribal council of the game. Beth: Yes, that’s her. Elisabeth Marie. JoJo: Have you two talked since then? Beth: Not at all! She’s gonna want Beffy blood! I do not want to vote her out again! JoJo: She is one person, hun.
The door opened, startling both of the ladies, and they whirled around to see Christopher letting himself in with Jenne close by his side. Both of them were beaming. Jenne immediately tackled Beth in a tight embrace. Christopher went straight to JoJo’s arms.
JoJo: Hey, hot stuff.
JoJo hugged her old friend Christopher from St. Patrick’s Day, one she had kept in close contact with for going on two years now.
JoJo: Who thinks I was talking to them? Beth: Me, duh! Jenne punched Beth playfully in the arm.
Jenne: Fancy running into you here! I would’ve paid to see your face when you saw that Lis was playing. Beth: Panicked? And Rami and Ryan and Lisa! Jenne: Says that Mitch is her favorite castaway…I hate her! Beth: She must go, along with Shaun.
Christopher released JoJo and addressed all the ladies around him.
Christopher: Speaking of boot lists, Beth and I were tossing our lists out. JoJo: Mama wants to see a list. Christopher: I said Missie, Angie, and Tenzil are my bottom three. Beth said… Beth: This Shaun jerk who never shows up…and Lisa. Christopher: How about you, JoJo? Who is at the bottom of your list? JoJo: Tenzil and Missie.
Jenne flinched but said nothing, even when Christopher turned to her for input.
Beth: Jenne wants Lisa. Christopher: Okay. JoJo: Fine with me. Beth: So, in no particular order we have Angie, Shaun, Lisa, Tenzil, and Missie, right? Christopher: Right. One of those will leave first if we have any say. JoJo: As if! Christopher: We need to each grab someone outside for the first vote. JoJo, can you grab Jake? JoJo: I will try.
JoJo grinned impishly because she and Christopher knew well that Jake Erickson was securely under his mama’s wings. Christopher nodded and winked knowingly.
Christopher: Try and grab him. I think I can grab Lizzie. Beth? Beth: Kyle? Christopher: If you like.
Jenne remained quiet, taking it all in.
Beth: I have Kyle…Jamie…Taylor…pick your poison. Who do you guys feel most comfortable with? Christopher: I think we should just deal with them all separately for now…just get in good with them.
Names were quickly being tossed out. Whether or not plans were suitable for all involved, they were being made. Many names were already surfacing as forces to be reckoned with whether blatantly and out in the open, or subtly with a bit more calculation. The game was progressing in a specific direction. Bonds would most definitely prove an integral part to strategy. It was, after all, an all stars game. One of the most anticipated duos of the entire cast was that of the R Twins, and they spent that first evening together plotting just how to stay together while keeping it a secret from the whole cast. It would be a hard sell, but if anyone could do it, Ryan Appel felt he could manage.
When he opened his door to find Rami standing on the other side, he scanned the beach in the twilight quickly to make sure no one was spying before he pulled Rami in.
Rami: Long time no see! Ryan: No doubt! Rami: Has anyone approached you with any alliances yet? Ryan: Nope. You? Rami: Shaun said he was looking for a couple of people for a voting group to insure making it a good ways into the game. I told him I wasn’t ready to form anything yet until tribes were formed, at least. Ryan: I don’t know about him. I think he is rubbing people the wrong way, so he might be an easier first target. I’ve started keeping tabs on who I think will be working together. So far, Chris and Elisabeth seem tight, and Ashley and Angie do as well. Rami: You’ve always been good at figuring out alliances! I just want to figure out how you do it. Ryan: I’m very observant. I pay close attention to what people are saying or letting slip out. What do you think the plan should be? Rami: I definitely think we should be top secret. If anyone asks, we can just say we haven’t talked to each other much since Valentine’s Day. Ryan: If people ask. I can just say that you and I play two very different games, so I wanted to try and distance myself. Rami: As far as adding people to our alliance, who do you think? I think Kyle would align with us if we asked, but I don’t know about trusting him again. Ryan: Don’t ask! I think he knows a few more people around here than what he is going to let on. Rami: Yeah, I’ve stayed away from it. Get this…Tenzil is already playing the game again. He says he isn’t even going to try in this one and that he is just here to have fun. Ryan: They’re all out to win this one again. They’re trying to play it cool with the whole fun bull crap—if anyone actually falls for it. Rami: I know he is playing the same game as last time. I have a good feeling about this game. I learned a lot from Valentine’s Day and know if we play our cards right we will be in the final two. Ryan: Hopefully. We just have to take it one week at a time, not lay our cards out too early, and keep in contact with everyone.
So while in one hut old friends were a sure alliance, in another one nearby the reacquainting period was not as solid. Beth Sowles had been worried about several faces once she stepped on the boat and saw her all-star cast for the first time. Perhaps the individual that made her the most nervous was Elisabeth Marie, whom Beth had given her hand in voting off several previous games. What if this game was Elisabeth’s moment of retribution? When Beth left JoJo’s hut, the meeting of the minds of JoJo, Christopher, Beth, and Jenne, she found herself directly in Elisabeth Marie’s path. Though Beth paused and clamped her mouth shut when they came face to face, Elisabeth offered her a smile and threw her arms around her.
Elisabeth:Hey, Beth! Beth: Lis! I’m so happy to see you!
They released each other, and Elisabeth beamed as she looked Beth over.
Elisabeth:I feel like I haven’t talked to you in forever! How are you? Beth: I’m good. Lazy as heck, but good. How about you? Elisabeth:Not too bad, not too bad! Ready for my last survivor game ever! Last one! Beth: Oh, gosh….girl, me too! Elisabeth:Why do we do this to ourselves? Beth: I have no idea! Elisabeth:We are crazy! If there were no crazy people in the world then life would be too boring!
They walked on for a bit and grew silent. Elisabeth was as carefree as ever, but Beth became awkward in the silence. She drew in a deep breath before she spoke up again timidly. Beth: I want to make one promise…
Elisabeth cast a sidelong glance at her. She knew what was coming, but she wanted to humor her anyway. She’d heard it so many times before she felt she could recite it along with Beth. Still she smiled and listened intently.
Beth: If I don’t keep any other promises…I am not voting you out! So there! Elisabeth:Well, thanks, Beth! Beth: Your turn to get me out.
Elisabeth merely shook her head.
Beth: I was sorta scared to talk to you, actually. Elisabeth:Really? Thought I was a bitter, angry little teenager? Beth: Not exactly. Just not a Beffy fan. Elisabeth:Well, let me tell you, that’s Elizabeth with a Z. Elisabeth with an S is a number one fan through and through. It will take much more than voting me off five times running to make me a non-Beffy fan. Beth: Lis, I adore you. They hugged again quickly and more silence followed.

Elisabeth:Has anyone made any alliances or anything? I really don’t know many of these people at all. Beth: Shaun evidently has made one with Missie and Rami…but everyone knows about it. Elisabeth:Are they from the same season? Beth: I think Shaun and Missie are. Rami is from ours. Have you talked to Ashley yet? Elisabeth:No, not anyone really. Beth: She’s painful. Just painful to talk to. Elisabeth:Why? Beth: She’s so quiet, it drives me nuts. It’s like pulling teeth to get her to talk. Elisabeth:Oh no! She’s a stereotypical teenager. I hate those! Beth: You are not a typical teen! Speaking of, we have two fifteen year-olds playing—Isaac and Jake. Elisabeth:And Ashley is eighteen, right? Beth: She’s a freshmen at UCLA and lives in Beverly Hills with her parents, evidently. So, Ashley was talking to me today and asked me if I have made an alliance yet. She basically tells me that she has one…and leaves it there! I was like, huh? Just…isn’t that weird? Elisabeth:Did you ask her who she has an alliance with or is she really protective of that? Beth: She didn’t say, which just made the whole thing weird. She said people were sticking with people from their own seasons like she was trying to tell me something.
Elisabeth considered her momentarily and frowned slightly. There were so many new people and Elisabeth hardly knew any of them outside of the crew from Survivor Central. It was grossly intimidating.
Elisabeth:So, what’s going on then? I’m not really sure where anyone stands in this game. Do you know of people who don’t like each other? Beth: From what I’ve gathered, Taylor is scared of Shaun. Lisa…she’s doing the same thing she did at the start of Valentine’s Day—not around at all. I think people have noticed today. But basically I think we, the grand we are trying to work together as much as possible, and yes you’re included. Elisabeth:Who’s we? You and me? Beth: We is like you, me, Chris, Jenne, Taylor… Elisabeth:Oh, Jenne! I love Jenne! Beth: From what I understand, all of us sort of working together is what’s going on. Elisabeth:I’m definitely down. Beth: Other than that, I’m not sure what people’s plans are. So the first meeting with Elisabeth went above and beyond what Beth had ever expected. It was definitely a load off her shoulders and sleep would come much more easily. Elisabeth, however, watched Beth disappear into her hut.
She had no sooner taken a step before Christopher approached in the shadows of the evening and startled her.
Christopher: Where have you been! Elisabeth:Hey, you!
He twirled around with her quickly before letting her back on her feet.
Elisabeth:What’s up, Diva! Christopher: How are you? Elisabeth:Doing pretty good! I am so confused at this game, Chris. I barely know these people. Christopher: Me too! I think you and I know exactly the same people. I hear Missie might be the way to vote if possible. Supposedly she has formed an alliance with at least Shaun and Rami…whoever they are. Missie, Taylor, Shaun, Ashley, and Rami have an alliance. Shhhhh! Elisabeth:Taylor? Beth said that we have a group of you, me, Taylor, Jenne, and Beth. Christopher: Taylor is not to be trusted at this point, no matter what crap he gives you. He is in a bunch of alliances already. Elisabeth:Oh. I talked with him today but he told me he’s seen how I play and that I’m not to be trusted. He says he really wants to trust me, though. Christopher: Tell him that’s cool. You will do your own thing…and then we can vote him out. He’s always arrogant with you. Honestly, Taylor is a craptastic player. Elisabeth:Well, I like him. He just makes me feel like, well, like I’m below him sometimes. Do you know what I mean? Christopher: I sure do. He acts like he is some great player, and you’re a screw up. Not true! We all know Taylor. Anyway, it sounds like there is a backlash against Misse. So, if possible, she may well be the first vote since she started the dreaded A word with a bunch of people already. Elisabeth:Oh, dear. Christopher: It’s good, though. I hear she is kind of…a B word. Better her than someone I like, ya know?
It was a great reunion. Since the days of Socotra, Elisabeth and Christopher had only seen each other for sparse moments at a time. Elisabeth was ecstatic to re-link with her favorite diva.
Though Christopher and Elisabeth enjoyed a grand reunion, there were still others who weren’t as anxious to reacquaint or make amends. Lines were drawn between some people, and it was decided that nothing would bring those walls down. Some personalities were meant to clash, and as Angie Cristobal made her way back to her hut from the resort, she ran into Jake Erickson. The only smile that crossed her face was much forced.
Angie: If it isn’t AJ. Jake: I guess it is. Angie: And not a bit stuck on yourself, either. Jake: Oh, Angiree, you haven’t changed a bit. Angie: I’m not Desiree anymore.
She referred to her alias in Halloween.
Jake: Well, I’m certainly not AJ! Angie: You can’t be that different from AJ.
Jake shrugged at that. There was not much more to say. Some people were destined to play separately—against each other at that.
As Angie watched Jake trudge away, she felt an uneasiness deep within. She was struggling to find one she could trust. Her season had been such a long time ago, and she couldn’t say that she had kept in contact with any of the others. There had only been one with whom she had remained particularly close, and his name was Gary.
With a sigh, she turned into her hut for the evening.
Jake Erickson, however, didn’t share Angie’s concerns. In fact, on his way back to his hut he was caught by a given alliance member—a given member before the game had even begun. JoJo Treadwell caught him with a grin, and Jake was happier to see her than anyone else on the island aside from Christopher.
JoJo: Beth and Chris were in my hut earlier, and I thought I’d pass along some information to you. They asked for lists of who might go first…Beth said Lisa and Shaun, Chris said Angie, Missie, and Tenzil… Jake: Good! JoJo: I said Tenzil or Missie… Jake: Mega good! JoJo: Anyway, they had the who could vote with us discussion and named a name or two. Obvious ones like Jenne—I can’t even remember, and Chris says, hmmm what about Jake? Jo, could you bring him in? and blah blah…so Mama says, hmmm, he listed me as a favorite…so there you have it.
Jake was feeling better and better as the day progressed. Things were looking good. He had been concerned about Beth and another game they had played in the past, but she seemed very sincere in not holding grudges.
Jake: I actually got along with Beth, today. I was surprised. JoJo: Oh! Get this…Ashley’s first comment to Chris today was who do you think will win? Jake: Ashley is slow. I think that needs to be made clear. JoJo: Chris asked her who she thought might win, and she says something like, someone who wins should deserve it this time. She said this to JC…who won! Jake: Right to Chris…ouch! JoJo: I about peed! So Beth is like who is this girl? I want her gone too! Jake: She’s not really a threat to anyone, though. She’s a follower extraordinaire, and she’s buddies with Isaac. Then again, she is also friends with Angiree. JoJo: Isaac is adorable, by the way. We talked today. Jake: I talked to him too. He’s such a real guy.
So, as the first day of the game was drawing to a close, things were shaping up nicely for some people, not so great for others. Others were casually sliding by, but the game was definitely taking a direction whether visible from the outside or not.
Jon Kennedy crawled into bed thinking of the people he had met throughout the day, though no strategy had been discussed with him. He wasn’t one to take the lead so quietly feeling people out was his best bet.
Ashley Miller was fairly confident in her first day’s performance as well. She genuinely liked most of those she had met that day, and ironically enough felt closest with those who viewed her the most negatively. Unbeknownst to Ashley, her days in the great all-star game seemed shortly numbered. Still she felt great as she snuggled in her bed.
Christopher Collins turned in for the evening perhaps the proudest of everyone. There were just too many to call his own, and he was ecstatic to be playing with them. The day had been fairly laid back and easy, filled with meet and greet, but Christopher was able to begin his strategy early. He had been blessed with ready-made teams.
Perhaps the last of the twenty castaways to pillow their head for the evening was Taylor Napier. Taylor had possibly been the most excited of all to join in on the fun of the all-star reunion. With his excitement brought so many possibilities. As with many of the others, he was excited to be there with so many people he could trust.
With that, Taylor went to sleep along with everyone else. The first day of the game was over and only thirty-eight days remained for only two lucky people.

Day 2
The dawning of the first challenge day of the game came with much anticipation. There were cracking knuckles, there were sleepless nights, there were rolled up sleeves. Whatever the case, the challenge was coming. The initial day of chaotic meetings had passed and many had begun to settle in their own comfortable groups. Taylor Napier awakened that morning, proud of the groups he had made. It was going to get him far if he played his cards right. He hastily showered and got ready for the day. His number one lady was waiting to have breakfast with him and only him. The duo of Jenne and Taylor lived on. Taylor: Are we still keeping this a secret? Jenne: Uh…DUH! Taylor: Just making sure. Jenne: If you are gonna be able to pull it off. If you can’t then we shouldn’t even try. No dropping stuff like you did with Beth and Lizzie’s names, ya know? Has to be very smooth. Taylor: I won't. We will be fine. I’m not really mentioning you to anyone. Jenne: I told JoJo we weren't speaking. But other than that, haven’t said a word ‘bout you to anyone. Taylor: JoJo asked me, and I said that we didn’t like each other but were civil. Jenne: Why'd u say that? You mean since the end of Valentine’s Day or during the game? Taylor: Since the end. I said we were civil with each other…just didn’t talk. Jenne: I didn’t tell her I didn’t like you. I just said we weren’t speaking. Taylor: I implied that we didn’t get along very well…just civil. I didn’t say we didn’t like each other. Jenne: I told her that I still cared about you but we weren’t able to make the friendship work. I like JoJo. Taylor: I do too. That’s what worries me. Jenne: Why? Taylor: She’s a threat. Jenne: Stop that! Too early to be freakin’ over everyone. I’m just gettin’ to know folks and chillin’, and you should too.
Taylor took the advice with a grain of salt. Despite what he said, he was actually very confident with is present standing in the game.
At the same time that morning, Kyle and Beth finally crossed paths for the first time in the game to genuinely get a sense of where each was headed. Kyle had come very wary of his friends from Valentine’s Day. They were a tightly knit bunch and very hard to crack open. He could see it happening all over again—especially with the addition of Christopher. Beth bounded up to him and wrapped him into a tight hug. Kyle returned the embrace just as eagerly.
Beth: Me is so glad to see you! Kyle: You is? Yay! How are you? Beth: I’m good! How are you? Bombarded yet? Kyle: I’m good. Nervous, but good. Beth: What’s Kyle’s thoughts? Kyle: Kyle’s thoughts? Hmmmm…Kyle is overwhelmed at meeting twenty people. Beth: Aw, Kyle is only meeting nine people. Kyle: Well…getting reacquainted with several and hoping they don’t have a gun brandished behind their backs. Beth: I’m actually surprised at how few people I don’t know. The ones I really didn’t know were Missie, Angie, and Ashley. Kyle: I didn’t know them, Jake, Jon, Isaac, and Chris. Technically, I don’t know Lisa. Beth: Technically, no one does.
Kyle looked at Beth hesitantly. Surely she wouldn’t go against him a second time in a row. Surely she would be trustworthy. But something made him want to let go and trust her.
Beth: Okay, here’s a thought. Tell me what you think for the code challenge tonight. We…whoever we want to include…lie to others about our codes, ensuring that one of us wins and hopefully have some control of the tribe selection—if that’s what it does. Kyle: Who’s we? Beth: Whoever we want it to be. Not really a list of people in we exactly. And this is absolutely for your ears only, and if I ever find out you tell anyone, I’ll be so pissed. One thing I will not do is lie to you…you have my promise. Kyle: And I won’t to you either.
There was an air of uncertainty between the both of them. Still they shook hands in agreement.
Beth: So, do not repeat this information at all. Taylor and Jenne made up. As far as I know, I’m the only one that knows. Kyle: So they are trying to keep that a secret? Beth: Yes…for obvious reasons. Kyle: Even from me? Beth: Yes. Kyle: I won’t say anything, but…man. Beth: They probably wouldn’t have told me either, but I forced the issue since I talked Taylor into sending that stupid picture. Kyle: For your ears only, I think Taylor assumes I will blindly follow him again, and I am playing that off. Beth: I think he thinks that, too. Taylor doesn’t realize how smart you are and that you have your own friends. Kyle: Do you think Taylor and Jenne will hate me if I’m not as loyal to them as they assume? Beth: No. Well, Taylor may be hurt, but Jenne won’t. I’m in the same place because I’m not going to be as loyal to them either. For your ears only, Taylor probably won’t last long. So far the names I’ve heard for the first five or six votes are Missie, Angie, Shaun, Lisa, Tenzil, and Taylor—in no particular order. Kyle: Makes me sad, but oh well. Beth: Another promise I’ll make you…if I know something, so will you. Kyle: Do you mind if we include Jamie in this? Beth: I don’t mind at all, except for the for your ears only stuff. Kyle: I need your thoughts on something…I know Christopher and Jenne are uber tight. But Christopher has told both Jamie and I that he thought Valentine’s Day was unfair. Which makes me believe he’s buttering me up, but Jamie seems to think he wouldn’t have said anything except he sees it as truth. Beth: Chris has never said that to me. Between us only, before this Chris couldn’t stand Jamie and didn’t want to be anywhere near her. Kyle: Well, I’ll let you handle that little piece of info with Jamie. I don’t know enough and don’t want to start anything. Beth: Me not telling Jamie that! Kyle: I’ll just tell her to be wary. Maybe Christopher will slip some info to me if I keep playing the I’m still afraid of Jamie card.
Beth nodded, then paused with a new thought. Kyle hadn’t spoken much of Jenne, and she was itching to know just where he stood with her.
Beth: Does Jenne assume you’ll be aligned with her because of how close you two are? Kyle: See, I don’t know. The fact that she and Taylor are keeping their make up sex a secret gives me the feeling she wants to play harder than she lets on. Beth: Make up sex? Kyle: It was a joke! But you know what I meant! Beth: Taylor isn’t good at keeping secrets, so we’ll see how he does with that. Kyle: I have to admit that it irks me a bit that they would keep that from me. Both of them!
So, Kyle wasn’t at all pleased with the way it was shaping up that Taylor and Jenne were going to play. All along Jenne had told Kyle she never wanted to play in the great all-star game and was just going to sit in the corner and watch. But Kyle knew Jenne was not that passive. And this little withheld secret was proof. There was something in the works with the same group and Kyle wasn’t a bit comfortable with it.
Nearer to lunchtime Ryan Appel made his way to the extravagant restaurant at the main resort, mostly ambling, but in hopes that he would find others to add to his alliance of two—himself and Rami. There were so many from which to choose that he didn’t think it to be such a difficult feat. But when he entered the coffee shop he found a group less likely to accept him. Christopher Collins, Jenne Lotz, and Angie Cristobal were all there talking and laughing. It was quite the unique trio, but Ryan forced himself toward them nonetheless. If he learned anything from his stint in Valentine’s Day it was that he hadn’t associated himself with enough of the cast at the most crucial times. He joined the trio and was received more warmly than he ever expected. They took him into the group as one of their own and a personable conversation ensued for a good while. Ryan was in awe that he and Jenne were a part of the same group social, and enjoying each other’s company at that. It was a very nice change of pace.
Ryan: I was just thinking that I hadn’t had much of a chance to talk to you, Jenne. Christopher: Yes! You two should get acquainted! Ryan: Oh, we go way back! Christopher looked at Jenne with surprise.
Christopher: Oh, really? Jenne: We haven’t really ever talked that much. Ryan: My nemesis from season four. Jenne: Was I your nemesis? I know you were mine. Didn’t know I had the honor in return. Ryan: Well, as far as making for good episodes, you and Tenzil were both up there. Christopher: What place did you get, Ryan? Ryan: Eleventh. Jenne kicked my behind.
Jenne smiled at him and held up her mug, prompting a toast. Christopher and Angie exchanged glances. Whether friendly or not, the moment was awkward. Christopher cleared his throat.
Christopher: And Jenne? What place did you get? Jenne: Third. Christopher: Did you have a nemesis in your season, Angie? Angie: I’d have to say AJ. He was a thorn in my side the whole time. Christopher: Jake, right? Angie: Yep. Ryan: Mine and Jenne’s went from week two to my eviction. Jenne: It was deserved! You sent a psychopath on my trail! Ryan: Sorry. The way it played out just seemed so suspicious. Jenne: Eh, it’s okay. I got to vote you out.
Christopher stepped in once again. Angie was merely amused by the scene unfolding before them.
Christopher: You guys really are nemesis’! Ryan: I’ve been rocking back and forth in a corner ever since trying to cope with it. Jenne: I have a lot of respect for Ryan as a player. Our beef is long time resolved, I’d say. Right? Ryan: I have lots of respect for Jenne as a player. Christopher: The only nemesis they picked from my season was JoJo—who I respect. We had it out for a few episodes in our season. Angie: I was in a game with JoJo. I really had it out with her! Jenne: I’m a lover, not a fighter. Ryan: I’m too lazy to fight. Jenne: This game is too hard on me. I’m cute and sweet and nice! Ryan: Yeah, right! Jenne: Just because I’m cute and sweet and nice don’t mean I don’t know how to defend myself.
This time Angie took it upon herself to intervene with a new subject.
Angie: I said hi to Missie earlier but she didn’t answer me. Christopher: She doesn’t talk to me either. Angie: Good, I’m not alone. Jenne: She only talked to me once yesterday—to tell me to vote for Lisa. Angie: Ditto! Christopher: Ryan is mum. I’m assuming she talks to him. Ryan: Mum? Christopher: You aren’t responding in kind. The three of us say Missie ignores us, and you didn’t concur. So I can only assume that her highness actually talks to you. Ryan: We talked a few times, but it was only a plug to boot Lisa or Shaun.
They grew silent for a bit before Angie excused herself to rest up for the challenge. The party didn’t last too much longer before Christopher ruffled Jenne’s head and followed suit, leaving Jenne and Ryan to fend for themselves. They looked at each other for a moment before Jenne spoke up.
Jenne: I’m glad you are here, Ryan. Ryan: I’m glad you are here, and that we are finally getting a chance to talk and get to know each other. Jenne: Yeah, that never really happened so much before. Opposite ends. Ryan: Can I ask you an honest question? Jenne: Shoot! I like those the best anyways! Ryan: Are you planning on playing this game and really giving it an honest shot? Jenne: Not at all. I mean, I’m not gonna roll over and play dead, but I don’t have anything to prove, and emotionally I just can’t handle it at all. Ryan: That’s what a lot of people are saying. Well, you and Beth anyways. Jenne: I actually mean it. I had to get talked into playing and talked out of quitting. Ryan: Well, I’m glad you decided to stay. Jenne: It’s not like I’m asking you to vote me off though! Ryan: Oh no…I’m only focused on the people that are never around. Jenne: I’ve only heard two names for this week. Granted Lisa totally ticked me off with her favorite castaway choice, I still don’t think she should go first again. But she’s doin’ the same thing here as in Valentine’s Day…never around. Can’t get to know someone who ain’t here, and I’m an emotional person. I don’t vote out the people I care about. You ain’t here, I don’t care, then you get my vote. Easy ‘nuff. Ryan: Note to self…make Jenne care about me. Jenne: Hey, you woulda gone much further in Valentine’s Day if you had back then. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Kyle got me to care and by the end, I was balling when it came time to vote his ass out. Ryan: He’s a nice guy. He was good to me. Jenne: He was…to me too. Ryan: Better than he should have been. Jenne: Just gots to get me to care! Then I’m the most loyal, sweetest, most loving, supportive girl you will ever meet. Ryan: That will be the goal for this edition of Survivor, then. Jenne: Ryan befriends Jenne…now that would be a shocker. No one would see it coming. Ryan: That’s why I was asking you if you were going to play the game. I’m all about the shock value.
Jenne paused and looked Ryan over for a moment. Jenne: Intriguing. Ryan: That would be hilarious if we pulled it off. Jenne: We’ll see how things go. If for some reason these people don’t rally to rid themselves of my cute behind, I’d be down for some covert ops. Ryan: Good stuff. See how things play out… Jenne: And straight out, I have not made a single alliance in this game. I’m trying to avoid game talk as much as possible. Ryan: Well, hopefully we’ll have plenty of time for that.
As the challenge grew closer, groups were beginning to solidify. Others were being recruited for their vote. Still others were being used for personal security. With pending tribal status, it was that much more maddening trying to pin down a general direction. Kyle sought after his number one ally to pass along information he had been collecting. Kyle: Met any worthy teammates? Jamie: I’m talking to people, but no strategy. I guess I’ve met a few I wouldn’t mind keeping around for entertainment purposes, but I don’t know yet. Beth? Kyle: Beth is always a worthy candidate. At least she’s nervous enough to want to hide behind those not so high profile. Jamie: That’s what I was thinking. Has Taylor spoken to you yet? Kyle: Yeah. He seems a little braver than the rest. Jamie: Slightly so. What was his proposal? Valentine’s people together? Kyle: He hasn’t made a proposal. I think he just assumes. So…I’ve played up to Taylor and Jenne subtly that I’m nervous Jamie’s back again routine. Jamie: Oh dear! Kyle: Taylor and Jenne both assume that I will just follow them blindly, and…this is for Jamie’s ears only. Taylor is rather confident, thinks you’re being fake nice, and has been somewhat giddy in getting rid of you. Jamie: Taylor is quite full of himself. Funny thing is I’m just being nice…for no reason beyond playing nice. Well, thanks for the heads up, Kyle. Kyle: I hope he will still be my friend after this game. Jamie: He doesn’t care for me, so I have no fear of that. Kyle: I just have to trust he knows this is a game. But I don’t want him to go earlier than necessary, ya know? Jamie: Definitely not. If he thinks you will blindly follow him at least you can keep an eye on when he’s ready to turn on me. Kyle: Right…and I will. Whatever I know, you will know. I want to keep 100% communication. Jamie: Just don’t start calling me Lady Tenzil! Kyle: One thing to be aware of…Chris and Jenne are tight tight…you know that right? Jamie: I knew that they were close. I knew he was close with the SC group, but I didn’t know they were in particular. He’s been trying to coax me into talking to him after we discover tribes. So, I’ll keep that in mind. Kyle: They are hanging buddies in real life. Jamie: Oh. Kyle: And Chris didn’t like you during the Valentine’s Day recaps. That’s why I was suspicious of what he told you of the Valentine’s Day fairness.
Jamie was left fairly stunned. The information came as quite a shock considering how she and Christopher had seemed to get along so well in the first couple of days.
Almost at the same time, Christopher was confiding in his number one ally the information he had gleaned from his initial meetings and discussions with people. As soon as JoJo left her hut and approached him, he threw it at her.
Christopher: The Kyle/Jamie nemesis thing is so forced and fake. They have an alliance to best the final four that bested them. Duh! JoJo: How lame. Hours later the real stuff starts. ‘Bout time people! Christopher: Mama, I heart you! So thankful you are here! JoJo: I love you to pieces!
They shared an embrace with no regard to who may be watching.
JoJo: What else do you know? Christopher: Seems Ryan and Rami don’t know Angie. JoJo: Ryan and Rami were tight last season for sure? Christopher: I wouldn’t know. I wonder if they are in Missie’s alliance. JoJo: So it could be Missie, Shaun, Taylor, Rami, Ryan….Ashley? We have Jenne, Beth, Jake, Kyle, Liz…Kyle asked me where Christopher stands with Taylor earlier. Christopher: Tell him you are pretty sure I’m distancing myself from the Valentine’s Day final four—that I didn’t like the story and didn’t want to be a part of it or something. JoJo: I told him I had no idea. Christopher: You can tell him I thought they had done lame. JoJo: You think Tenz and Jamie and Kyle are all together? Christopher: I hear Jamie is distancing herself from Tenz, but I think Jamie and Kyle might be. JoJo: That is smart of her. Christopher: I told Jamie that we should talk strategy after immunity and she seemed to be way into it. They are trying hard to sell their rivalry. Trying to hit us all over the head with it. JoJo: Well, Beth seems tight with Jamie this time, too. And Tenzil and Taylor are still in the Valentine’s final four good graces, I think. Christopher: Beth tells me she will boot Tenzil. What about Kyle? I’m trying to talk strategy with Kyle. I may get burned, but what the heck. JoJo: I think he’d be good to work with, but I can’t possibly know for sure. Kyle told me that you raised red flags to him. Thinks you are buttering him up and that he can see right through you. Don’t tell him I told you this or Mama will pinch you real hard! Christopher: I sensed that he wasn’t in to me. Oh well, take me out first! JoJo: He says that you told him about the Missie alliance and wouldn’t confirm or deny your sources and that you told him you are not strategizing, don’t know where you stand, and won’t go along with the S-Cer’s. He thinks it’s a bunch of bull. Do you think he’s been talking with Tenzil or Jenne? Christopher: Jenne wouldn’t sell me out. JoJo: Well, he mentioned that he knows you hang out in real life. Christopher: I told him that. Well, this is the first pile of crap I have ever created for myself in a game. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t trust me at all. JoJo: Nah, leave it be for a bit.
At noon that afternoon on the second day all twenty of the castaways gathered at the beach where Karen waited to read tree-mail for the first challenge. They all grouped together as one giant tribe of nearly two dozen individuals, each apprehensive about the activity looming before them. Karen watched them calmly, seeming to revel in the discomfort she could see on most all of their faces. She opened an envelope and read from a sheet of paper.
Karen: You’ve all done this before and had fun galore. Figure out the code fast and be the first with the necklace.
No one said a word as all had suspected the first challenge would be the famous breaking the code challenge—a staple for all seasons’ first activity. Some met this with excitement. Others groaned within themselves. Tenzil, for one, smiled. He had his own agenda in mind and it didn’t include participating. Christopher: I wonder what it means!
Others began to murmur. Jake beamed right along with Tenzil.
Jake: I love this challenge. Traditions like this are so fun! Isaac: This brings back some memories! Jenne: Let’s see, I believe this challenge is why I was almost the first person voted out of Valentine’s Day! Joy! Can’t wait! Rami: If it’s the challenge I’m thinking of, it will be as entertaining as the first time I did it!
Kyle looked at Jamie and gave her a wink.
Kyle: Maybe this time I won’t have to have you spoon-feed me what to do. I don’t think I’m as retarded this time. Jamie: Oh, I forgot to pack the spoon.
Christopher tossed a knowing look at JoJo who winked in return. Taylor frowned and grumbled out loud.
Taylor: I suck at this challenge. But I suck at most challenges, so it’s okay. Good luck everyone!
Some snickered at that, but Taylor didn’t find it funny in the least. Tenzil, however, continued to smile. While others began to talk amongst themselves at a low roar, he merely stretched his arms out, popped his back, and slapped Taylor on the shoulder.
Tenzil: Can’t make it. Best of luck everyone!

In an instant the entire crowd froze and all eyes were glued to him, wide with shock. This was Tenzil Goodman, the challenge monger from Valentine’s Day, the self proclaimed tribe commander, the winner of the this challenge from the most recent season! Had he said he wasn’t going to participate? Maybe Tenzil was just going to coast through the game to his valued number one juror position. Missie who was itching for an immunity necklace stepped up and gaped at him. Her gaping than turned to immense joy once she realized that the opportunity for her to win the challenge had just turned more to her favor. Could anyone believe Tenzil was really stepping back?
Missie: Can I say I may have a crush on Tenzil already?
She stepped up, hugged him tightly, and gave him a loud smacking kiss on the lips. Tenzil blushed slightly. Immediately, Jamie gaped and shoved her hands to her hips. Christopher nudged JoJo. Beth stifled a laugh. Jenne merely looked from Tenzil to Missie to Jamie and back again. Jamie fumed.
Before long, the meeting dispersed and all went their separate ways to rest up or strategize for the code challenge, whatever the case was. Jamie joined Beth and Kyle for a meeting of sorts as they were going to try and work some plan together to ensure keeping the win within one of the three. Jamie, however was still angry even as she was trying to plan.
Christopher loved it.
Christopher grabbed JoJo to head back to his hut, laughing the entire way. JoJo could scarcely keep up with him as he dragged her along, cackling and wheezing all the way.
Christopher: Oooooo, there is gonna be a bitch fight! JoJo: Can I watch? Christopher: Jamie is pissed! JoJo: Oh dear. Christopher: Missie may well go first without too much influence from us. Beth and I are gonna fan that fire! JoJo: How? Christopher: We’re both gonna ask Jamie about it, pointing out how Missie is going after her man. JoJo: I love it! Though Tenzil not showing up for this challenge is very interesting.
On the flip side of that fan Beth Sowles had already gathered up Kyle and Jamie for their challenge strategy. But Beth had more than strategy on her mind. She had a stick in her hand ready to stir the pot, and she was going to put her all into it. The three of them made their way back to Jamie’s hut.
Beth: I was waiting for your reaction to Missie. We want a bitch fight. Jamie: Did she do that to rile me up? Make fun of me? Or just trying to be cute? I know she’s older and married, so I fear nothing. I have Tenzil in line, but still! I almost feel like that was a jab at me! Beth: That’s sorta how I took it, too. And just who is she? Jamie: I’ve played with her before. I don’t care for her. Beth: She ain’t my favorite. Jamie: Really, who would start jabbing at someone this early in a game? Beth: Sounds like Missie is stepping to the front of the please vote me out line. Jamie: Personal jabs should never be in a Survivor game unless you’re planning to start a war. Beth: Exactly and she should have planned backup—which she doesn’t have! Jamie: I do! I got my Beffy! And with Beffy, the Holidays gang!
Beth grinned slyly.
Beth: And the S-C gang. My Jamie is well protected.
So Jamie, Beth, and Kyle commenced to strategizing for the challenge, which finally resulted in a decision to hide Jamie, thus monopolizing her portion of the code. Little did they know that Missie and her crew were planning on doing the same. As far as Christopher, Jenne, and JoJo—Jenne was only to share her code with a select few before dashing out of view. As for Tenzil…he went back to his room and rested for the remainder of the day.
After too long of meeting and talking and planning, JoJo excused herself from her group and headed toward the resort for a little bit alone. The game had worn on her the past couple of days and a few moments alone sounded like a vacation in itself. Much to her displeasure she wasn’t able to stray too far from the company of some castaway. With twenty people in the cast, someone was always nearby. She passed Jon and Ashley and Drew. She saw Missie walking around with Isaac. But she was most surprised when she ran into Shaun at the coffee shop. Shaun had been scarce though his name had been lumped in with a major alliance as well as tossed around for the first boot. JoJo was intrigued at once.
JoJo: Hi, Shaun. Shaun: Hey, JoJo, how are ya? JoJo: I’m good! It’s nice to meet you finally. Shaun: You and I should hook up in this game.
JoJo paused for a moment. This was the first time they had spoken, and he was already trying to drag her into the dreaded other side. Still she smiled sweetly.
JoJo: There are five thousand season four people in this game. We all need to hook up or we are toast! Shaun: We need to help each other bad! I got Missie on board and maybe Rami, if you are cool with that. You should talk to her and maybe we can get in tight together.
JoJo cocked her head.
JoJo: Isn’t Rami a he? Shaun: Ooops, my bad. Too many people to keep track of. JoJo: I can see why you’d make a mistake. Shaun: We should see what we can work out as a secret alliance for the four of us. And before I make the mistake, you are female right?
Was he joking? Maybe so? JoJo laughed just the same. She stroked her long hair and brought it over her shoulder.
JoJo: Yes. With a name like Jo. Shaun: Well, that’s good to know before I call my alliance member a he. JoJo: Yes, that would be hilarious, Shaun. Shaun: Hey, it’s Booby Jon! JoJo: Booby….gotcha…
JoJo was never more grateful to be relieved of such an awkward moment when they finally parted ways. Yet she was grateful for the information he handed over on a silver platter. Rami was definitely a part of this budding alliance. It would have to be stopped as soon as possible.
The challenge was dangerously near and a source of anxiety for most. Many claimed to have less than adept skills when dealing with the code-breaking challenge. Many were leaning on small group strategy to ensure a win for trusted individuals. Many were ecstatic that, for whatever reason, Tenzil—the winner of said challenge in Valentine’s Day—was opting to bow out of the challenge.
Still, group strategy was a rush as the challenge approached.
After a group discussion with Beth and Kyle, Jamie Drayson marched herself to Tenzil’s hut for a quick word. He answered her knock almost chipper and was pleasantly surprise to see his fair maiden before him—or Lady Tenzil as Christopher Collins had deemed her. Jamie wasted no time.
Jamie: Hey, cutie. Tenzil: Hey there, Buttercup!
Jamie allowed him to kiss her gently on the cheek.
Jamie: Any news on the street? Tenzil: Like: Angie, Jo. Mixed: Jon. Dislike: Shaun, Ashley. Love: Jamie.
Jamie giggled playfully and gave him a tight hug.
Tenzil: I really am steering clear of strategy. I wanna see how it goes after tonight. Jamie: Smart move probably. Do you want to give me your part of the code even though you are not playing? Tenzil: I’ll give it to you, Beth, Jenne, and Kyle to increase the odds. Jamie: Awww, why not just me? Tenzil: I don’t want to leave my friends out.
Jamie nodded, then remembered why she had come to Tenzil’s hut in the first place. That Missie! She was angry once again and not really sure if Missie was more of a threat to her as a player or a threat to her as a girl. She had taken Missie’s blatant flirting as a personal jab.
Jamie: So, what is up with Missie hitting on you? Tenzil: Heck if I know. This is the first I’ve seen her.
Jamie crossed her arms and snorted.
Tenzil: I’m scared to talk to her one on one. Jamie: Well, yeah! Tenzil: Someone else should ask her. I’d like to know what is up with her. Jamie: I’m not going to approach her. I’m pretending to ignore it. Tenzil: Beth won’t either. Am I going to have to go into the lion’s den and find this stuff out? Jamie: Yes. But I don’t want you saying anything about me. I haven’t said a word about her attentions to you, got it? Tenzil: About who? What?
Tenzil winked, and Jamie relaxed a little.
Jamie: Well, I’m going to get ready for the challenge. Tenzil: Kick some butt!
So Jamie proposed to do just that. She was going to hide and between Beth and Kyle, hoard a few codes. That win was almost sure. Jamie felt quite secure as she made her way back to challenge beach.
The challenge came upon them as quickly as Karen had read tree-mail. Surprisingly enough, not all the castaways were present at the beginning of the challenge. Those that arrived faced a giant circular structure with twenty evenly spaced doors around the circumference—just as in the four previous seasons. It was, in fact, the code breaking challenge, and all pre-challenge strategy was about to come into effect. Tenzil dropped in to grab his portion of the code from his personalized box, handed it off to a select few and was gone like a vapor. In the same manner Jenne Lotz presented herself long enough to hand her code over and disappear. As planned Jamie arrived only to hide in the beach foliage—accessible only to Beth Sowles and Kyle Adams. Missie Bird attempted a feeble hiding place but was soon caught and consequently frowned upon by many individuals. Those that arrived to play in full force scrambled from one to the other, discussing, exchanging codes, hurrying to their own doors to put their numbers into effect. No more than half an hour passed before Jamie sneaked to the backside of the circular building and tried her code—out of the public eye. Much to her surprise, the door opened as sure as she was born and she hurried back to her hiding place, tossing the completed code to Beth and Kyle. Beth Sowles became the first one in the room and the first immunity winner of the great all-stars game.
Karen: Wow! I am surprisingly shocked to say I never thought we’d have a winner this fast! Beth has won the challenge and guaranteed immunity for herself!
Beth came out of the structure to her applauding castaways, beaming and blushing all at the same time.
Karen: Now, this challenge was for joint immunity. More information will be forthcoming. Beth…if you will come with me.
Karen and Beth left the beach area for a time while the others were left to mingle and wonder. The looming question was: tribes or no tribes? With twenty individuals, no one fathomed how a game of a single tribe could possibly play out, but that was the prediction of many. Before long, Beth and Karen returned, Beth looking slightly nervous as all eyes were on her.
Karen: You have all been speculating about what will happen. So much has ridden on this first challenge. Beth was asked to select nine people without knowing why. She chose Ashley, Chris, Jamie, Jenne, JoJo, Jon, Kyle, Missie, and Rami. Now you all wonder what this means to you. Beth and the nine people she chose are immune at the first tribal council, but they are not one tribe.
Mouths gaped, eyes widened, some whispered to one another.
Karen: Welcome to your first big twist of the game. There will be no separate tribes in this edition. You will remain one big tribe and attend every tribal council. As a part of the reward for winning this challenge, Beth was asked to name the tribe. Therefore, you are now known as Tribe Snickalick.
Some laughed aloud, some mocked, some merely frowned.
Karen: Congratulations to Ashley, Beth, Chris, Jamie, Jenne, JoJo, Jon, Kyle, Missie, and Rami on immunity at the first tribal council. I will see you all at tribal council tomorrow night. Good luck!
With that, Karen was gone like a phantom.
The new dynamics that had just been hurled at the castaways was overwhelming. Taylor Napier, for one, was not able to see past the fact that he was vulnerable and snarled toward Beth for her selection. Others simply imagined a tribal council with twenty free votes flying around. It would be a mad house.
JoJo: Dang! Twenty votes will be a zoo!
Isaac quickly inched up next to Missie in the midst of the crowd and whispered in her ear.
Isaac: Do we know what happens now? Missie: Ten of us have immunity. Seems Lisa is the group preference for a boot. You down with that? Isaac: Yes, for sure. Missie: Sweet! You’re the first person I wanted to finalize this with.
Snickalick dispersed for the night, and the scrambling began. It was time to select the first boot of the game, and for many, disappointment set in that Missie Bird was now safe. The names of Shaun and Lisa remained on top as secondary choices—Lisa, sadly enough, for the second time in two games as first boot.
Lisa approached Beth as they made their way back to their huts for the evening.
Lisa: Congrats! Beth: Thanks!
But Lisa wasn’t smiling, and Beth stopped in her tracks. Something was up.
Lisa: You know, I just found out that you played Gracie in Valentine’s Day. I’m a little disappointed that you didn’t tell me sooner. I thought you and I hit it off pretty good in that game before I was voted off. Beth: I’m sorry. I really am sorry. Lisa: It’s done and over with.
Lisa had nothing more to say before she retreated to her hut where she stayed for the rest of the evening. Beth merely looked after her. With a shrug, she continued on to her own hut. She had won, she had selected the safe individuals, she had named the tribe. Things were looking very well for Beth Sowles that evening.
Though, not many stayed in their huts for long. A celebration was going on back at the resort, and most wanted to be a part of the party. More than half the cast gathered for some fun and fellowship, and as it turned out some very open self-revelations. To say the least, many closets were opened and the bones dug out as they confessed with one another their deepest darkest secrets. This was greatly influence by the drink for many, but it was an experience, nonetheless—for all ages. Tenzil, Jenne, Christopher, Taylor, Jamie, and Angie were particularly open about their past and experiences. Others such as the younger ones of Jake, Isaac, and Elisabeth were a little more reserved. It was definitely a wild party thy weren’t accustomed to attending.
Elisabeth was a bit more vocal about her discomfort with the situation, but others such as Isaac took it all in stride and faced the party as open-mindedly as possible.
The party went on until well into the night. Some had trickled away as the morning grew early, but those heavier conversationalists stayed until the partied died. Missie Bird found herself walking back to the aisle of huts with none other than Jenne Lotz. They hadn’t built any type of rapport together, but Missie was willing to try. Anything to break into that intimidating group.
Missie: Congrats! We have immunity! Jenne: Sorta sweet, huh? Missie : Like woah ! Jenne: I was so relieved. Missie: I’m very happy, too. This tribal council is gonna be a crapshoot! Jenne: Well, at least our choices are narrowed. I haven’t even met everyone yet. Missie: You have any thoughts? Jenne: I’m not sure who all is in the not immune group.
Jenne paused and threw a sidelong glance at Missie.
Jenne: Can I vote off Taylor? Missie: Do I sense a bit of animosity? Jenne: Me? Never ! Missie : A woman after my own heart. Jenne: Perhaps. Missie: I really have no one I dislike. I’d love to try and get a large group to at least agree on a boot, especially if we are going to be one tribe. Jenne: Can we ask for more drama? Any large voting block I would most assuredly like to be a part of. Missie: How do you feel about Lisa? Jenne: Did you watch my season? Missie: No…lord, why? Jenne: Lisa going was the reason I wasn’t voted off first! I didn’t really know her ever. Missie: Well, three people have mentioned her to me. Jenne: I’m not a Lisa fan. We haven’t spoken out here and probably never will. Missie: Then it seems like an easy boot! Jenne: Twice in a row. Ouch!
Lisa was most definitely an acceptable selection for Jenne, but she had a group whose decision greatly outweighed Missie’s desires. In fact, if it were up to Jenne, Missie would keep her mouth shut until it was time to douse her flame. They walked together for a bit longer before Missie excused herself for the night. But Jenne had another party to grace. This was the party that would rule the game. Beth waited for her in the shadows, and when Missie was out of sight, she snatched Jenne by the arm and led her toward Christopher’s hut. They spoke about Missie for a bit until Beth wanted some information on a more pivotal, tender subject.
Beth: How are you gonna handle Taylor? Jenne: Easy! Pump him for info—he tells us a lot—then dump him when his use runs out.
Beth eyed Jenne skeptically.
Beth: Will you be able to do that? Jenne: Dump him?
Jenne almost gaped incredulously.
Jenne: Not…a…problem! Beth: I just don’t want to make things harder on you. I know the others don’t know about you two making up. Jenne: We talked about stuff, and I expressed my feelings to him, but it don’t change the fact that he lied to me for three years and probably never will stop. Our friendship will never be what it was. He broke it permanently. I appreciate the gesture he did—I really do! But it was too little too late to repair what he broke between us.
Beth hugged her gently.
Beth: You know I love you. Jenne: Of course! We sweet!
They approached Christopher’s hut where he and JoJo were waiting for them at the front door. Jenne blew a kiss in their direction.
Jenne: I think we have found our new core four. Beth: I think so too. I love us four. This will definitely work out for us.
Jenne looked around stealthily before leaning in to Beth and whispering.
Jenne: Is it bad that I want to completely deceive Tay? Lead him on…lie. I want him to feel exactly what he made me feel for the last three years. I want him to experience it first hand, loving someone, caring about someone, and finding out all they did was lie to you!
Jenne stopped and faced Beth.
Jenne: I want him to feel that. I want him to experience the pain, the betrayal, the sadness that comes from being lied to by someone you care about. Then maybe he’ll get what he did to me. Beth: The way he is playing already, he’s setting himself up. I definitely get where you’re at and don’t blame you a single bit. Jenne: I feel gross being like this, but oh well.
Jenne painted on a smile and, clutching Beth’s hand, hurried to Christopher’s hut where JoJo and he greeted them warmly.
Jenne: This is where Jenne goes when she don’t want to talk to no one but those she likes!
They laughed and hugged and when they were situated and locked safely inside, JoJo unleashed the first information.

JoJo: Saw Shaun on my way back. He felt out of place ‘cause everyone around him at the time was immune. Christopher: Awww, poor guy! Out of place? Even when he is in an alliance of six? JoJo: He asked if the tribe had talked about a boot. Mama says, no idea. Then a bunch of stupid small talk before he asks if I’ve made any friends yet. Psssst…the A word.
The others laughed at JoJo’s animation.
JoJo: I reminded him that the only person who has mentioned an alliance is him. Well, he says he’s in tight with one person and asks if I want to form a voting block. Jenne: I think Missie just now said the same thing to me, only reversed. JoJo: I told him I needed to get to know people better, but that it sounded good.
Christopher crossed his arms and pretended to pout.
Christopher: They have never even spoken to me! Beth: Me either! Christopher: I must be their public enemy number one! Jenne: Missie just talked to me tonight about voting Lisa. JoJo: Shaun said he and Missie are still tight from season two…so we can include her. He says, let me talk to Missie and see what she wants to do, and I’ll let you know. As if I’m sitting in my hut waiting for Missie to tell me what to do!
The others laughed aloud.
Jenne: Missie pushed Lisa with me. Isaac came to me and pushed Lisa, too. Christopher: These people! I am appalled that they are pushing Lisa! She already got booted first—it’s a bit cruel! Beth: Jon and Jake want to vote out Shaun. Christopher: Jon, Jake, and Drew confirmed Shaun with me last night—as well as Kyle and the four of us. Beth: And Taylor. JoJo: I can’t wait to ask Shaun, you trusted me why? Beth: Is Taylor trashing me? He went off on me. Refused to see what I had done if there had been tribes. Christopher: Taylor was pissed. Told me you murdered him in this game. Beth: Taylor wants Lisa to thank him because he personally has saved her. JoJo: Jeez. Christopher: He told me that too. As if the rest of the players did nothing. Jenne: And we will let him think that. He’s our new Jamie. Christopher: It’s funny that it’s us versus them already and all those folks in the middle. Jenne: But we know who them is. They don’t know who us is. JoJo: I dig us! Jenne: I mean…they are going for Lisa! She is nothing! Beth: I have a feeling she’s gonna want me out. JoJo: Whatever! Christopher: We should always have a bottom five in case of immunity. Missie, Shaun, Isaac, Ashley, Rami. What is everyone’s bottom five? Beth: Shaun, Missie, Lisa, Angie, Ashley. JoJo : Missie, Shaun, Ashley, Isaac, Angie. Jenne: Missie, Shaun, Lisa, Ryan is all I can think of. Rami and Ashley would be neutralized a bit once Missie and Shaun are gone. Isaac, too. Missie and Shaun are the only two that I’m way anti…and Lisa and Ryan, but that’s personal. Rami for the average. Christopher: Okay, our average is Shaun, Missie, and Ashley as definites. Lisa, Isaac, Angie and Rami as backups.
Everyone nodded, then more chatter went up before Christopher quieted them a bit. Christopher: Can we talk openly about Tenzil? I’m a little worried he’s slipping by. JoJo: I feel like an outsider on this one. Christopher: Jenne and Beth, I know you are friends with him outside this game, but he is not someone I feel comfortable having around for a long time. Beth: Tenzil is a vote. Jenne: He’s not playing this game so much. Christopher: Not for now, Jenne. Jenne: He’s a vote with us for sure. Christopher: But he pulled that in Socotra, too, then went hog wild trying to get Chase out. Jenne: I’m fine voting him out. Beth: Same here. Jenne: I don’t like playing this game with him, but I know if someone went after me, he would go hog wild to protect me. So it’s not like he’s high on my list to get rid of. Christopher: I understand. But he could easily rally people up to get me out. He won’t sit here for two months and not play. So, yes, I’m putting that out there. Don’t want to hide it from you guys. I won’t ever feel safe till he isn’t here. For some reason he likes to try and get me.
A silence fell over the room. Jenne and Beth, in particular, dropped their heads and scanned the floor as Christopher ranted. JoJo sat awkwardly. Somewhat of a frown had crept across her face.
Christopher: Anyway, I just needed to say it. I still feel strongly about Missie and Shaun first, but I may need to rethink my order past that point. Jenne: Chris, I know how you feel about him, and you are well aware of how I feel about him. You know I will do what is best to keep you feeling comfortable in this game. Beth: Same here. Christopher: I thank you for that, Jenne, I really do. Beth: I have no problem voting him out. Christopher: It isn’t a tomorrow thing, but I also don’t want him still here after eleven people are voted out. Jenne: He’s tame currently. Christopher: Agreed, Jenne. We have bigger problems at the moment.
Jenne smiled up at him.
Jenne: Like I don’t want Ryan here. JoJo: What’s up with Ryan? Christopher: Ryan is pretty friendly. Rami seems to be the shady one to me. Beth: And Lisa, for me, is personal. Jenne: Ryan was and is my nemesis. He lied to me before the game even started. He’s smart, perceptive. Rami is an idiot. Ryan is smart. Christopher: Rami, like Missie and Shaun, has said nothing to me. Also, since joining up with Missie, Isaac has gone from friendly to nothing with me. Beth: Isaac has barely acknowledged me. Jenne: Isaac loves me. Christopher: We will neutralize the people who make the group feel uncomfy. Maybe we should be putting Taylor in our bottom five and just be done with him. Jenne: Isn’t Taylor in the supposed anti S-C alliance? I’m so for voting Taylor off. Christopher: He wants to tell Lisa he saved her, and he wants to keep Missie. He thinks he is this little mastermind. Beth: He totally believes that he and he alone is behind the Shaun vote. Jenne: The thing with Tay is, he just plain sucks at this game. He’s really bad at it. I was the only one in Tonga who liked him, and really only Kyle and I liked him in Valentine’s Day. Christopher: It would be funny to send Taylor packing if we couldn’t get Missie. JoJo: If Taylor asks me who I’m voting for, do I know it’s Shaun yet? Christopher: Everyone seems to know. Beth: Taylor thinks he’s getting his way in this game. Jenne: He is so not getting his way. Shaun, Missie, Taylor: boot order! But guys, after Shaun goes, can I tell Missie that Taylor orchestrated his boot?
Everyone laughed at that.
Christopher: Jenne, you can do anything! Jenne: I think it should be done! Christopher: I think it would be hysterical! JoJo: Someone has to do it! Beth: Gosh, I love us! Jenne: Maybe we should keep Tay around? Dangle carrots in front of him? Taunt him? Kick him? I’m cruel! JoJo: I want to dangle the carrots! Sounds fun! Christopher: Well, I did tell Taylor earlier that I heard his name in passing. You should tell him that you heard his name, JoJo, but that you won’t vote for him. Say you promised to keep the source a secret but that you told the person not to vote him. Jenne: New game! Bate Tay! Chris, you are cracking me up! Christopher: I am officially bad! Jenne: With a posse of lovely ladies backing you! JoJo: Hail to King Christopher! Jenne: If we are sure on numbers, can Tenzil vote for him? Christopher: I think we are pretty sure on numbers. Jenne: This is too much fun! Thank you guys! I was so not having fun in this game but starting to now! I am loving it! So thank you, thank you!
Jenne circled the hut handing out tight hugs and even pecked Christopher on the check. The party lasted for some time after that, but even the best of the best needed their sleep. They broke up eventually and headed to their separate huts. Jenne and Beth laughed together, fully aware of their insanity and the ridiculous hour of the morning. They were just a few hours shy of sunrise, yet they were laughing and stumbling, giddy on adrenaline.
Jenne: I can’t believe Ryan wanted to talk game with me!
They walked arm in arm along the sand, nearing the beach. Beth had wondered of Ryan’s present standing. Jenne didn’t know exactly, but she would play along.
Jenne: I think he wants to lull me in then chop me down. Beth: He can’t do that! I won’t allow it! Jenne: He’s a pissant. Same as in Valentine’s Day.
Beth laughed but was thinking of her potential nemesis. Jon Kennedy had been friends with enemies of Beth in the Survivor Central world. Hearing this had set Beth at a discomfort with Jon’s presence on the island.
Beth: Jon is my worry.
She and Jon had shared only menial small talk in the first two days of the game.
Jenne: I understand that, but he has no legs to stand on. Just another pissant for us to piss on. Beth: Jenne, I adore you! I can be as evil and mean as I wanna with you. Jenne: You can be anything with me! I’m totally uncharacteristic these days…no sweet, nice Jenne. I’m all bitch! But as Ryan said, I play a good victim!
They laughed so more and walked on silently. Exhaustion was finally creeping into both of them as their energies waned.
Beth: Do you think we do have an alliance of sorts with Chris and JoJo? Jenne: I think we do. I mean, Chris said alliance. Beth: I’m sort of basing my game play on that. Jenne: I can’t go against Chris no matter what—and you either. And JoJo just rocks my world, so it just makes sense. Beth: Oddly enough, Tenzil isn’t bugging me. Jenne: He’s not doing anything. His heart ain’t in it. Beth: But Tay sure is. Tay is playing too hard. Jenne: Too hard. And I’m making sure Missie finds out.
They laughed some more and grew silent.
Beth: So…Shaun, Missie, Lisa, Jon, Angie, Ashley. Jenne: Add Rami, Ryan, or Taylor…and Jamie. If she can get her hooks into Kyle and Tenzil, better off without her. I like her, she’s fun…but she’s good. Beth: She’s a threat to our game. Jenne: I don’t see her having any loyalty to us. And I love Kyle. I want him to go far, but I want him to go far because of us…not others! Chris is a strong player, and I’m sorta fine with letting him go all out. I’d rather play chill and backseat it.
Finally they made their way back to their huts. The morning was quickly approaching. All their plans were finalized, and opposition from the other side didn’t seem too threatening. Beth and Jenne could sleep as late as they wanted.
Others didn’t sleep so well.

Day 3
Angie Cristobal rustled a bit early the next morning. She joined the castaway party until just as late as the best of them but she was surprisingly refreshed awakening at such an early hour. The party had somehow set her at ease with the rest of the Survivors and the coming clean of such personal information and being so comforted by the likes of Christopher Collins, Jenne Lotz, and Tenzil Goodman was somewhat therapeutic. Never before had she revealed so much of herself to complete strangers, and she was warmed that others empathized, even shared some of her experiences. She felt much love for her fellow cast mates and as she prepared for the day, she gushed about nearly everyone.
And with that, she finished up and headed out into the beautiful sunshine. There was not a cloud in the sky as she sucked in the fresh air and made her way to the resort, her stomach rumbling for breakfast. She was not surprised to see many familiar faces sparsely placed in the restaurant, and she quickly spotted Jon Kennedy sitting off to the side by himself, enthralled in a book. She helped herself to a seat with him, and Jon was more than happy, greeting her with the smile that all the castaways had seen since they had met him. They chatted happily and comfortably before Jon asked the most random question.
Jon: Did you get immunity?
Angie looked up quickly, not at all pleased to be reminded after she had been feeling so well about the game. Why had he asked so suddenly?
Angie: Nope. Does that mean you’re voting me out? Jon: No! C’mon now! I haven’t heard anything. Angie: I’ve been hearing Shaun or Lisa. Jon: Oooo, the guy that calls himself Booby. Angie: That’s the one. That’s reason enough to get rid of him, huh? Jon: I’ll probably vote either one, but I’m not sure that I’d take him seriously. Angie: I can go either way. I’ve not talked to either one of them.
Meanwhile in the very same restaurant Kyle had made his way to Tenzil who sat by himself, reading a paper and sipping coffee. Tenzil and Kyle had experienced rough times together in their previous game but had become quite social thereafter. As a matter of fact, they rather enjoyed each other’s company. One thing that nagged in the back of Kyle’s mind was Tenzil’s blatant complacency. It seemed a bit too forced, and Kyle was sure Tenzil wouldn’t sit quietly throughout the game and wait for his reckoning—especially not with Jenne Lotz claiming the same.
Kyle: So where do you stand in all this?
Tenzil looked up, startled. Kyle had skipped the pleasantries as he sat down at the table and engaged him directly.
Kyle: By Jenne? On the sideline? Tenzil: ‘Ello, to you! I am supporting the people I like in doing well—which includes you.
Tenzil smiled and Kyle found himself at a loss. Was he being real?
Kyle: Well, thank you. Tenzil: My one personal goal is to be juror number one. I want to go that far and no further. Kyle: No further? Tenzil: That is my fantasy. It’s a weird one, but I really just want to have fun, and it will stop being fun if I go for too far, ya know? Kyle: Possibly. I’m wondering how nasty this game will get. Tenzil: All I’m saying is I want you and my other friends to do well. For this game it’s important that I help my friends do well.
Kyle regarded him, skeptically though he was.
Kyle: Well, I’m glad I can be a part of that. Why the sudden change? Tenzil: It’s not sudden. I almost didn’t play. I decided if I did it would be for fun, and I’m happy to be free of the insanity so far. I want to keep it that way. Kyle: The challenge was definitely kind of insane.
Tenzil grinned broadly.
Tenzil: I wouldn’t know.
Kyle had to take him at face value. Nothing more was spoken of the game for the remainder of their breakfast together. Tenzil was rather pleasant company; it felt surreal for Kyle to actually be on his side…seemingly.
Little did they know they were being watched throughout the course of their meal. Ryan sat idly in the distance watching. He and Rami had strategically placed themselves at opposite ends of the restaurant, watching people, conversing only with their eyes. When Tenzil excused himself, Ryan made his way quickly to Kyle. Kyle sat quietly, pondering.
Ryan: Hey, Kyle. Kyle: Hey, Ryan, how’s it going? Ryan: Not too bad. Not as many people in here as there was.
Kyle glanced around and noticed that other players he had seen dining had trickled out. In fact, no one was left.
Kyle: It’s like a ghost town, now.
Kyle watched as Ryan sat. If there was anyone that made Kyle nervous aside from the infamous Valentine’s Day foursome, it was Ryan Appel. Vengeance could very well be a possibility, even though Ryan’s apparent nature screamed otherwise. Still Kyle would watch him closely.
Kyle: I’m kinda having a hard time finding my place this time around. Ryan: What do you mean? Kyle: I don’t know…it’s weird. All I hear about is this big, eleven-person Valentine’s Day alliance, but all I foresee of that is getting duped by the same people. Ryan: I know. It’s so easy to rely on old alliances, but I look at my alliance with Rami and see where that got me. I think that it would be more interesting to venture out and make people other than Rami the central focus of my strategy. Kyle: Yeah, but I just don’t know where to hang my hat. Ryan: That’s the problem I’m having, because who knows who’s aligned with whom? It’s the same problem we had in Valentine’s Day. Kyle: It’s the Survivor milieu.
Ryan glanced nonchalantly to where Rami was sitting in the distance.
Ryan: Have you started talking strategy yet? Kyle: Not really. Not much more than, hey we should stick together and blah blah blah. I kind of wanted to see how this tribal council went and then grab the unlikely people, ya know? Ryan: I’m undecided. Whatever the group says, basically. I don’t want to single myself out again. Kyle: Probably best, but I’d like to take charge somewhere in there and not take a backseat to my own demise. Ryan: I’ve only heard the two names, and unfortunately it’s easy to see who will be the power players that you need to watch out for. But you also know they have the support behind them to go far. Kyle: Who are the power players do you think? The one’s I figured to be the power players have been very low key, and that is weird to me.
Ryan looked around quickly and leaned in.
Ryan: I’m by no stretch targeting them, but I think they have lots of support. Chris, JoJo and maybe Beth. Who do you think? Kyle: I was thinking Taylor was trying to take the reins…and Missie. I haven’t heard a peep from Tenzil or Jenne or Jamie, and that’s what’s weird to me. Ryan: Jenne is the only one of those three that I have spoken to. Other than that nobody is approaching me. Rami is trying, as usual, but I kind of told him that this is his chance to prove that he can do it without me. Kyle: New ballgame. But it feels like we’re playing against the Yankees. Same team that always kicks everyone else’s butts. Well, it’s either Shaun or Lisa. Ryan: They both bring good and bad. Shaun doesn’t seem to have anyone in the game, so he is vulnerable. Lisa is more likely to target all the girls from our season first. Kyle: Exactly what I was thinking. Maintain a healthy illusion of season four sticking together. Ryan: So, Shaun would be better vote right now. Kyle: I was leaning Shaun too. Ryan: It makes more sense in the long run.
A silence passed between them. Both knew what the other wanted to say, but it was Ryan that stepped up.
Ryan: Can we make the deal we had last season? We watch each other’s backs? Only this time we don’t put ourselves in danger like you did for me last time. Kyle: I’d be down with it as long as you aren’t looking for paybacks. Ryan: Oh no. To each his own. Kyle: Then I’m down. And being careful of not getting each other in trouble. Ryan: Emphasis on careful.
And that was that. Another semi-deal had been made. When Kyle excused himself from the restaurant, Ryan looked toward Rami with a smile and gave him a thumbs up.
They might just be able to do it this time around. Ryan had his eyes pealed for what was going on around him.
Only time would tell.
As the day wore on, the scramble ensued. First tribal council of the day, those in power scurried to secure their choice. Those without power either scurried to secure themselves or to jump into the majority. Then there were those who thought they held some power or a majority who scurried to secure their plans. Whatever the case, for two unfortunate people, it looked as though their days were ending in the game.
Taylor had been feeling good about the game and his wishes to see Shaun walk the path of shame. It seemed as though Missie Bird was playing into his hand. All was perfect until Christopher Collins had dropped a bit of information, false as it was, that his name had been brought up as a possible boot.
Suddenly the world was not right.
It was nearing lunchtime before Jenne Lotz ventured out of her room, rested and refreshed. She was not surprised to see Taylor first thing out of her hut. Taylor, as it seemed, had been all over the place. Though he wasn’t looking as happy or as confident as she had seen him. It made her smile
Jenne: So Shaun’s toast tonight, eh? Taylor: I don’t think there’s any way he won’t be. He frowned at her.
Taylor: Chris just told me I was paranoid. Jenne: You do get uneasy in this game. Not sure if I’d call you paranoid, though. Taylor: I get uneasy when I’m not sure the vote is going my way. Chris has conventionally mentioned that one person has brought up my name. Jenne: Seriously? Who? I’ve only heard Lisa and Shaun! Taylor: He won’t say. Jenne: I’m sure it’s not a big deal. He never said anything to me about it. Shaun seems to be in da bag!
Taylor nodded. It seemed that way. And Missie seemed just as sure that Lisa was going, but Taylor couldn’t help but be unnerved by Christopher’s convenient admittance. One thing was for sure, Taylor had work to do before the tribal council. Jenne merely snickered as he headed off about his business.
And while Taylor was stepping, Christopher Collins was making his way around camp to rattle the quieter castaways in hopes of reeling them to his side. It wasn’t by chance that he crossed his path with Jake Erickson.
Christopher: Strategy-wise, let me share what I have gleaned, sir. Jake was more than obliged to receive any information from, aside from JoJo Treadwell, one of his most trusted companions.
Jake: Certainly. Christopher: Seems the names on people’s boot lists are you, Isaac, Missie, Angie, Shaun, Tenzil, and Lisa. I have naturally, as has JoJo, steered clear of mentioning you or Isaac. In fact, I suggested to one person that JoJo could probably get you to vote with her for at least a round. So, I think you will be okay. But you want to be deflecting attention to the other five.
Jake frowned. Why had nothing of this sort been passed around before? It seemed odd. Jake wasn’t surprised at becoming an early target since he was the only vulnerable former winner. But Isaac Miller?
Jake: Alright. Isaac, though? Weird. Christopher: That is all I know right now. Isaac and you were specifically mentioned early on the bootlist for someone. Jake: It’s not Beth, is it? Christopher: Well…no. She is the one I told that JoJo could swing you. Jake: Good, ‘cause I’d be scared if Beth was after me…personally. Christopher waved his fear off.
Christopher: She seems to think voting with you is a good idea. I down played mine and your connection. Honestly, nobody seems to know we are friendly.
Needless to say, Jake was grateful for Christopher’s protection and hoped it would last through to the end game. But twenty people staring him in the face and now looking at him as an acceptable target—that was frightening.
But Jake wasn’t happy to merely brush off the threat. Tribal council was just a few short hours away and he wanted to be secure, and frankly, voteless. JoJo was the best shield aside from Christopher, and her hut was the first place he ran. He found her just now venturing out after a late rising. Jake greeted her warmly, and they exchanged their pleasantries. JoJo was just as anxious to delve into strategy with him if not more.
JoJo: I have heard people’s lists here and there. Jake: As have I…as have I. JoJo: And you aren’t on any of them! I have heard Booby head, Missie, Tenzil, Taylor…Lisa, I think. Jake: As have I…as have I. JoJo: Others? Jake: A few others I have heard. Angie. JoJo: Oh yeah, duh! Angiree. Jake: And Chris said that one person said Isaac and I.
JoJo balked, confused. This was news.
JoJo: Who said that to Chris? Jake: He didn’t say. JoJo: Excuse me?! Jake: He’s secretive about things like that. JoJo: Well, probably with good reason. But he’ll take good care of you.
Jake was sure he would. There was no doubt in his mind.
Jake: He will.
The same couldn’t be said for many others. In fact from a select four Survivors, the majority of the cast was considered, the other side or those in the middle. But those in the middle were spreading the only two that had made the rounds as potentials from the core. Shaun looked like a more acceptable boot if for no other reason because Lisa Smith had been booted first already. The Missie alliance wasn’t common knowledge or a general public threat. In his own subtle way, Ryan Appel was ready to begin rounding troupes against the budding alliance that he could see.
Ryan: I’m so nervous ‘cause with so many people, who knows who will be a target. Drew: I have heard two targets. Ryan: Me, too. I have heard Shaun and Lisa. But I think that was more just people throwing names out there.
Those people had typically been Beth Sowles, Christopher Collins, JoJo Treadwell, and Missie Bird.
Drew: I have heard that from everyone I’ve talked to. I think that is the plan as far as I know. Ryan: If anything changes, I’ll be sure and let you know. Drew: Cool and likewise. I would just hate to see Lisa get voted off first again. Ryan: I know, that would suck. But I’m more concerned with keeping myself off the chopping block.
Then of course, other middle players were spreading the word as well. Ashley Miller had wandered aimlessly through the field of Holidays All Stars, wary of whom she could trust. She hadn’t felt adored when she played in Halloween, and it was made clear to her that she had been used for her vote and less than par challenge skills. The connections she felt leaving the haunted house way back then was through Angie Cristobal and Isaac Miller. Since tribal council was so quickly approaching Ashley was in desperate need of a familiar face. Isaac fit that bill nicely. Angie would too, if she could only spot her for once.
Ashley: Do you have an ally with Jake or anyone else? Isaac: No, and I’m serious this time.
Ashley smirked. Isaac and Jake had been in secret cahoots throughout the entire game of Halloween, running things to their discretion. They had kept it secret time and again then. What would stop them from repeating? Ashley just laughed.
Ashley: Whatever. Isaac: For real! I figured you wouldn’t believe me, though. But I’m not gonna lie this time. I felt really bad for last time.
His head hung low, and somehow Ashley bought it. She remembered just how hard Isaac had taken his game play following Halloween—not to mention his zero to seven loss against Jake.
Ashley: I believe you.
Isaac looked up quickly, relieved.
Isaac: Thanks! Ashley: No problem. You’re my boy!
Venturing around Ashley sought more familiar faces to see exactly where tribal council was heading. Drew was helpful with a bit of information when she caught up with him.
Drew: Any idea what you are going to do at tribal council? Ashley: No, not yet. Haven’t really thought about it yet. Drew: The tribe seems to be leaning toward Shaun or Lisa, but that’s just what I’ve heard. Ashley: Really? Okay.
And that’s all she really wanted to know. Her more secure options for an actual alliance lay in Angie and Isaac, and she was much relieved when she finally found Angie heading back to her hut.
Ashley: Sorry you didn’t get picked for immunity. Just to let you know, I still got your back. Angie: Seems like Lisa will probably be the one to go this round. Nobody’s talked to her much. Ashley: I talked to her earlier today. I’m hearing that it’s either Shaun or Lisa. Angie: That’s what Drew told me. Ashley: Same here. So have you talked to everybody? Angie: No, I’ve not talked to Lisa or Shaun. Not much to Elisabeth. Ashley: Have you talked to Jake? Angie: The first night for a bit. Why?
Uneasiness came over Ashley—almost as much as what came over Angie at the mention of Jake Erickson.
Ashley: Just asking because I never see him around.
Then Angie was left on edge. The mention of Jake was disconcerting, and on top of that, Ashley was the second person to point out that Angie was without immunity. Shaun and Lisa were the only names floating around but Angie was slightly concerned. When she crossed paths with Kyle, he further confirmed the targets, but set her even more at edge.
Kyle: Are you immune tonight?
It was that dreaded question! But she held her peace. Kyle had seemed like a possible ally since meeting.
Angie: No. Kyle: I couldn’t remember who all is immune. Angie: Who are you voting for? Kyle: Shaun. You? Angie: Me, too. You haven’t heard anyone mention my name have you? Kyle: No, not at all. Only heard Shaun and Lisa. Angie: Everyone keeps asking if I’m immune…it’s making me paranoid. Kyle: No, I just couldn’t remember who all was. Are you close to your Halloween people? Angie: Not at all. I was with Gary, but he didn’t have time to play all-stars, so I’m a free agent—so to speak. I thought I was close to Ashley until I saw the show. Kyle: Well, it looks like we are turning out on the same page of music.
Angie blinked. Just what was he getting at? She was feeling more vulnerable by the second that day.
Angie: What do you mean by that? You feel like a free agent after watching Valentine’s Day, too? Kyle: Total free agent.
It made sense. Angie relaxed. She understood.
Angie : I know. Watching Valentine’s Day, I was screaming at you! Nooooo, Kyle!
Kyle laughed.
Kyle: The thing is, I kinda knew what was going on during Valentine’s Day. I just had a brain fart. Angie: Chris was saying the other night that he didn’t feel like they were as tight as they were in Valentine’s Day, and I told him that’s just how they played it off through their whole season. There’s no way we can let them do that again. Kyle: No way in heck! Angie: It was boring! Jenne mentioned in a get together the other night to Ryan that they already had targets on them because there were so many from the Valentine’s Day cast. I think the only ones that are targeted are the ones that made that game so absolutely boring. Kyle: Although none of their names have come up. Angie: Not yet anyway.
Angie winked, and Kyle grinned at her.
Kyle: We’ll have to change that.
A moment of silence passed between them before Kyle excused himself.
Kyle: I gotta get something to eat. I’ll catch you later? Angie: Yeah, I’ll be here.
Angie watched him go. Something felt so right with him and seemed like just exactly what she was looking for.

Before Angie could take another step away, Christopher Collins came along, fully aware of the discourse that had just taken place. He smiled charmingly.
Christopher: Do you have immunity?
Angie turned quickly, eyes wide.
Angie: No! Why does everyone keep asking me that? Am I a target?
Christopher feigned surprised and loved every minute of it.
Christopher: Oh, I keep asking everyone. I can’t keep track of who does and who doesn’t. And no…nobody has mentioned you to me. I keep hearing Shaun and Lisa.
Angie relaxed and sighed heartily.
Christopher: I can’t vote Lisa. She shouldn’t be first twice! I think that is just mean, and I don’t know why anyone would do that. Angie: Okay. I can vote Shaun.
That was music to Christopher’s ears. Shaun was the much better choice, but not for the sake of Lisa’s blessed heart. No, it was for the sake of Missie Bird’s undermining. Things were going perfectly as planned. But Christopher wasn’t finished yet. The word was going to be spread that Shaun was the better choice, and he knew just who to approach. If Lisa Smith was to be found anywhere on Karen’s All-Star island, it would be in her hut, and that is exactly where Christopher found her. She opened her door almost instantly at Christopher’s knocking, and though she seemed completely uninterested, she smiled at him.
Christopher: Hey, you! Lisa: How are you tonight? Christopher: I’m good. I will tell you straight up that Missie and Shaun have been trying to push you as a boot. I am voting Shaun tonight because Missie is immune. I thought it was crappy to try and vote the first boot first again.
Lisa frowned, even acted surprised that her name had come up so early once again.
Lisa: Thanks. Christopher: Sorry if I’m coming at you a mile a minute. I wanted to talk to you when I heard a few days ago but I haven’t seen you around. Lisa: I appreciate it and will try to be more talkative. Christopher: No worries. I just thought it was mean and very high school. I didn’t like it. A few others had the same response. Drew, I think? Beth…I think JoJo? Anyway, we are voting his way. Lisa: Drew told me Shaun was the vote. Christopher: Good, that means he is solid. Lisa: Yeah, I like Drew. Christopher: He is a sweet young man.
And that’s all Christopher needed to reel her in. Shaun was going home, and Christopher was everybody’s friend. Proudly, Christopher left Lisa to her solitude and planned on heading back to his hut for a quick nap before tribal council, but Beth Sowles caught him on the way. She had more interesting news, funny news at that, and it seemed things couldn’t be going better.
Beth: You are my hero!
Christopher was taken aback at the praise, but loved it just the same.
Beth: Taylor is going nuts with hearing his name!
Tipping his head back, Christopher erupted with a mock sinister laugh.
Christopher: He knows not to bring it up with me. Beth: It just cracks me up. Oh! And he is Ashley’s alliance! According to Taylor, it is Ashley, Taylor, Missie, Shaun, and Kyle. Christopher: We should just knock out his alliance partners one by one. Beth: Kyle let Taylor believe it just to see if he could find anything out. What are the chances Missie would give up immunity to Shaun? Christopher: That would be h-o-double-t, but she won’t. Beth: I was talking to Jakey earlier, and he cannot stand her. Christopher: He is funny, super smart. Jon also seems smart…I like ‘em both. Although, I trust Jon a little less, just not knowing him. Beth: The only reason I trust him a little less…he’s very good friends with Lindsey and Michelle.
Christopher blinked. Lindsey and Michelle were a couple he played with in Socotra—Michelle and Christopher had history for much longer, including a powerful alliance in St. Patrick’s Day. Socotra had been the undoing of all their friendships.
Christopher: He is? Oh….eff that! I am dumping his ass! They will be trying to get him to turn on us. Beth: I think so. Christopher: That changes everything! Beth: I’ve been nice to him, but not telling him anything. Christopher: He was merge-bound for me, but no longer! Beth: Yeah, he is tight tight with Lindsay. Christopher: He is that Jon? Oh, man! Beth: So, yeah…definitely pre-merge. Sorta surprising sometimes how much we know about everyone.
But Christopher was over the shock already. Even as they spoke in the heat of the revelation, he had a golden idea blazing over his head. Leaving Beth where she stood he went to find Taylor. It was time to come clean about who had dropped Taylor’s name as a potential boot. The plan was sure-fire—fail-safe.
Christopher: Did they tell you?
Christopher heaved and made his question very urgent. Taylor’s eyes bulged.
Christopher: I didn’t want to get involved in all of it.
Taylor stood stock-still, but when Christopher howled in laughter, he relaxed
Taylor: Very funny Chris. Christopher: You know I dig ya.
Taylor glanced him over briefly. He wasn’t sure he could ever get used to Christopher’s ways. For right now, Taylor needed him but he hoped above anything else he would be able to get rid of Chris, and soon.
Taylor: The smartest move tonight: not Shaun, not Lisa. Angie, but it’s probably too late. Christopher: Why Angie? Taylor: Angie and Jon, close in season three. Christopher: I disagree. Shaun is worse. Missie, Isaac, Shaun—bigger triad. But I’m thinking Jon next. I don’t know why it occurred to me, but it did. He is a problem, and he is slick. Taylor: And because he is close with Michelle and Lindsay. That is a problem for the S-Cer’s. Christopher: He is definitely playing an interesting game. Taylor: I think he’s the one that mentioned my name to you.
Christopher dropped his head and fidgeted as if he was nervous, scraping his foot in the sand.
Christopher: I won’t confirm…
He dragged out as nervously as he could possibly seem.
Christopher: …but I have always said you are smarter than people give you credit for. Taylor: Once he told me he knew Lindsay and Michelle, I was like…ahhh! That’s him! Christopher: So, he blew it and told you that? That was his first dumb move. He has been pretty smart so far. Taylor: Do you think he has enough support? Christopher: I really have no clue. Seriously, no clue. We will have to keep our eyes open. Taylor: Do you think we could get him out next? Christopher: I’m willing. Taylor: I know I could get Missie to agree.
Yes, things were adding up perfectly. All things considered the day was quite peaceful aside from some secret planning and fancy footing. Most were quite certain they knew who was leaving, and most were quite certain it wasn’t themselves. On the way to tribal council, however, Kyle wasn’t so sure where everything was heading once Shaun left. There were so many things going on around him that just didn’t quite add up. Stories seemed to be conflicting. Apparent actions were not coinciding with known personalities.
Kyle: It’s been chaotic already. Beth: What happened? Kyle: I feel pulled in three different directions. Well…I feel pulled in the same direction by three different people, but not knowing who is being truthful and who is playing hard. Beth: Oh? Do tell. Kyle: JoJo, Christopher, and Jenne. Beth: Like what’s going on? And I need to tell you about Taylor’s stuff too. Kyle: I’m all ears about Taylor because he is involved in some of this too. Beth: What are JoJo, Chris, and Jenne doing? Kyle: Christopher has just absolutely gushed to me, and I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him. Beth: He actually likes you, but keep on. Kyle: Jenne was gushing to me, too, playing up the I hate Taylor thing. Beth: I wish she wouldn’t do that. I asked her to please, please, please tell you. Kyle: That’s what makes me not trust that she’s just going to be a fly on the wall. Beth: Jenne was gushing to me the other night about you. Kyle: She gushed to me about how much she cares about me and wants to see me do so well, and all things considered…it was a huge slap in my face. Beth: I’m sorry Kyle. I was going to tell her I slipped and let you know about her and Taylor. Kyle: No, don’t tell her that. If she is playing, she will act. Anyway, my lack of trust for Jenne trickles over to Christopher, who tells me he’s not as close or comfortable with S-Cer’s as I might think. Beth: Well, with Christopher, that part might actually be true. Kyle: Riiiiight. But Jenne is, frankly, making me mad. Beth: She is not including me in anything, either. Frankly, she’s treating me like Taylor is, and me no likey. Kyle: What’s making me the most mad is how she is gushing so much and saying how much she loves me and doesn’t want to play or hurt anyone, but with the whole Taylor thing she is playing. I think she thinks I’m a blindly following moron just like Taylor does. Beth: I’m actually with you on the Taylor/Jenne thing, and Taylor is going insane. Kyle: And being cocky. Beth: Have Jenne, JoJo, or Christopher offered you an alliance? Kyle: Nope. Christopher seems to be hinting at it, but Jenne is the reason I don’t trust him. Beth: Jenne told Chris she wasn’t going to play unless he did. Kyle: And she told me that too. That’s why I don’t get the whole Taylor thing. Beth: I get the feeling there’s a lot going on that I just have no clue about, and Taylor came to me demanding I tell him everything I knew. Kyle: Taylor is quickly moving to my short list.
Beth nodded but said nothing else. They walked on in silence. Tribal council awaited them.

Tribal Council 1
The twenty initial castaways filed in, the atmosphere constricting. Many kept their heads down as they entered the stone temple where Karen stood grimly with her hands clasped behind her back. There were four sets of stone benches facing a giant fire. Karen stood across the fire and watched as they dispersed in groups of five on the benches. Had anybody paid close attention, the groups might have been an indication of alliance lines. However no one thought of anything but the fire before them and the name they would soon write down. Once everyone was situated and torches mounted properly behind them, Karen began the meeting promptly.
Karen: Tribal council begins now. Welcome, tribe Snickalick to tribal council number one. The format for all tribal councils will be the same: I will be asking individual questions. After that I will ask questions that are open for discussion. You are encouraged to participate and say anything you want. However, to keep it orderly, raise your hand before you speak. After questions…it will be time to vote.
They all watched her intently.
Karen: Let’s get started. Beth, you won season four and now you won the first immunity. Do you think that puts a target on your back?
Beth looked around quickly. She already felt singled out as a winner. Now she felt the eyes of all the castaways upon her.
Beth: I guess it could. Though if anyone knows me and puzzles, they’ll know what a fluke this was. I’m just having fun.
Karen: Drew… Drew: Yes, ma’am? Karen: You were voted out early in your season, brought back by an outcast twist, and voted out again by the same people. Do you feel you have anything to prove in all-stars? Drew: Yeah, definitely I have something to prove. Not only to myself but to all the critics that have…well, criticized me. I want to prove to myself that I can succeed in this game and prove that I deserve to be in all-stars.
Karen: Ryan, you and Rami are known to be close from your play in season four. Do you think that will affect other people’s impressions of you both?
Ryan looked around quickly. Rami kept his face toward the ground. They had a cover to uphold.
Ryan: First of all, it was surprising that either one of us made the cast. To be honest, I would have rather one of us not make it.
This statement garnered a few chuckles and some rolled eyes, but Ryan pressed on.
Ryan: Because with having your old alliance member playing, there is an assumption that makes you think that people from the same season are more likely to work together. I hope that doesn’t affect people’s impression of me or Rami because I have decided that while that alliance was intense and strategic, it wasn’t what I was looking to get out of this survivor experience. No offense to Rami…he is a nice guy, but that was last season.
Rami kept his head down and dared not look up.
Karen: Jamie… Jamie: Yes’m? Karen: It seems that Missie has been openly flirting with your boyfriend. How does this make you feel?
Tenzil lifted his head quickly and could not suppress the grin that crossed his face. Missie flinched and looked around her. Jamie only laughed.
Jamie: Well, she’s been openly flirting with me too. Threesome?
Laughter went around.
Jamie: Seriously, I think we’re all in this for fun, some entertainment, and we get it where we can.
Karen turned to Tenzil.
Karen: Tenzil, it is common knowledge that you and Jamie have a romantic relationship outside the game. Do you think that people will be wary of making alliances with you as a result? Tenzil: Of course, and there’s not much we can do to change it. But other people have bonds as well. For example, Jo and Chris are very good friends, but I’m not going to rule out working with them because of that.
Tenzil smiled, pleased with his statement, but Christopher, a bench over snarled in his direction. If there was one thing Christopher Collins didn’t like was negative attention in any way or anything affecting his game. He stewed quietly. JoJo merely dropped her head and stared at the ground.
Tenzil: It’s complicated. You can’t just make the perception go away, but you’re foolish if you rule them out altogether. We all have bonds here and mine and Jamie’s is just one of many.
Karen nodded. The topic seemed to have piqued the interest of many as many eyes watched Jamie and Tenzil.
Karen: Kyle, you felt duped by the final four in season four. Are you here to prove that you can outplay them this time around? Kyle: Not really. There’s four of them and sixteen others. Really, it’s anyone’s game and anything can happen. I’d like to think that we have put all of that drama aside and are working on a clean slate. I’m not looking to avenge myself or anyone else. There’s a bunch of people I’d like to meet and connect with, and there are old friends I’d like to reconnect with. So, I’m here looking for new adventures.
Jenne eyed Kyle skeptically.
Karen: The next question is directed toward Lisa and Elisabeth. I’d like them both to answer, but Lisa first. Many have been early boot victims from inactivity. Some think you may be repeating that trend. Why would you want to repeat a fatal mistake? Lisa: I don’t want to repeat that trend. I was at the challenge. I shared codes. I am more talkative and I hope that I can prove to everyone that I belong here. Karen: Elisabeth? Elisabeth:I do understand where people may be coming from with that, but my heart really is here in the game. I am completely dedicated to this game, and I guess I just hope I get the chance to get to know some more people in the coming weeks.
Karen nodded then addressed the group as a whole.
Karen: Now a couple of questions for everyone who wishes to answer. Who are you glad that you’ve gotten to know that you didn’t before?
Hands immediately went up among the group. Tenzil grinned as he raised both hands. Karen called them out in their respective orders.
Drew: I’m really glad to have gotten to know Beth and Jamie. I didn’t get much of a chance to talk to the girls since season four, but they are awesome, and I hope to get to know everyone this season. Shaun: Elisabeth and I finally go to talkin’ today, and things are nice there. Also Jo and I got some quality time in the wee hours of the night.
Eyes widened and JoJo cringed slightly when she felt them burning.
Shaun: Of course there are others, but I’m just happy to meet new people altogether. Jamie: I’ve played games, besides this series, with Angie and Missie before. I’ve gotten to see entirely different sides of them here, and I positively love it. Major love to those two ladies, glad I got a second chance to get to know ‘em. Tenzil: I’ve enjoyed meeting everyone I haven’t before, but I’m particularly enjoying getting to know Jo, Angie, and Missie. They’re all great people in their own distinct and ever-fascinating ways.
Missie turned to look at Jamie and Tenzil where they sat. She had a joking light in her eyes.
Missie: You’d think I would say Jamie and Tenzil, but I’ll show them later.
Laughter went around through some of the group. With others, eyes were raised, and some even gasped. Still there were a select few who scowled at Missie, grumbled and rolled eyes at each other.
Missie: I have been so lucky to meet and hang out with Beth and Angie. I’m also lovin’ Ash and Lis. Now…if I can just get Rami and Drew to talk to me! Elisabeth:I just wanted to say that I loved meeting JoJo because she has the cutest kids. I’ll say it, I’m not afraid to admit it. They are a cute bunch. They play soccer! I mean, love them, love them! Love her! JoJo’s awesome! Taylor: I’m really happy to have met Angie; she makes me laugh. JoJo is as great as everyone says. Lisa…nice to finally get to talk to her. Jake and Jon are great guys and so enjoyable to talk to. Ummm, and everyone else I didn’t comment on, I’m sure they’re great, and I just am embarrassed and forgot to mention them. Lisa: I have to say Kyle and Taylor are really nice. I’m getting to know Drew more also. Ashley was really easy to talk to and nice. Now I want to meet the others.
No one else moved to further comment, so Karen pressed on.
Karen: Next question…have you found anyone that has been holding a grudge from a previous season?
Jake looked around quickly and raised his hand.
Karen: Jake? Jake: I am pleasantly surprised with the lack of grudges…and the lack of grudges that I, myself, have. To this point no one has really been holding anything against me or anyone else that has happened in previous seasons. I’m glad that, for the most part, we’ve got a clean slate. Isaac: I have found that there have hardly been any grudges, at least from the appearance. People could be hiding them, but I have not found any. Kyle: I have found no grudges, haven’t even heard of them in passing, but…we’ve been in this game for how long? Jamie: Three days. Kyle: Cards are being held tightly, I’m sure, but I’m holding on to the delusion that there are none. I love this atmosphere! Especially since I feel many could have a vendetta against me!
Karen: Last question. Have you tried to reach out to other seasons to form alliances or stuck mainly to those you know? Jamie: I think that we’ve all reached out some. I know that particularly in my season, no one left feeling really close with anyone in the game—or at least that’s how I saw it. I think that with all the new faces, it would be suicide to try and stick with only those you’ve known previously. It is a bit comforting to see the familiar faces—you can’t deny that much. Missie: How can I not look to other seasons? How many are here from mine? Seriously, with so many of us here, I don’t know who played in what season. I just go with who and what feels right for me and those around me. Tenzil: I talk to everyone because it would be suicide not to. I think anyone who chooses not to do so will not be long for this world. And deservedly so. Rami: Although it may be easy for some to just stick with previous seasons, it is a new game, new people. It would be unwise to stick with your season—especially if you took twelfth place! Christopher: With only two people returning from my season, I’d be pretty foolish not to reach out. I am definitely looking to meet new people. I enjoy it a whole lot so far. So meet me! JoJo: I agree with Missie and Tenzil. First of all, my season ended a really long time ago. Secondly, only two of us are here. Also, one can’t help but make connections with people who are here now in this new game. I have met some incredible people this week from other seasons, and I’m looking forward to working with them as well.
There was a pause as heads nodded and Karen waited for more interaction. The fire crackled in the brief silence. Warmth could be felt from the fire. Ashley slowly raised her hand, and Karen acknowledged her.
Ashley: I like to say that me and Isaac is officially a couple.
Many heads turned and wide eyes studied her. Isaac, for one, gaped and turned to look at her. Snickers could be heard rising up from the group. But Ashley merely sat there, beaming.
Ashley: Just kidding! Christopher: Oh my gosh! Taylor: What? Well then… Kyle: Another Romber! Jake: Isaashley. Rami: Ashaac. Jake: I like that better! Good job Rami!
The chatter died down and when it was established nothing further was to be said, Karen continued on. Karen: With that said, it’s time to vote! Ashley, Beth, Chris, Jamie, Jenne, JoJo, Kyle, Missie, and Rami have immunity tonight. Everyone else is vulnerable to tonight’s vote.
With that, one by one they made their way to the voting booth to place their votes. It seemed like a long and tiresome moment as twenty individuals filed to the voting boot and back one at a time. Nerves grated at every pressing moment until Karen left and returned with the urn full of parchments. The first victim of the great all-stars game was about to be revealed.
Karen: Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I’ll read the votes.
She pulled out the first vote and revealed Lisa’s name. A sinking feeling went to the pit of her stomach. For the second time in a row in this Holidays series, she’d seen her name as the first read out of the urn. She looked around at all the solemn faces.
Karen: Second vote…Shaun.
Shaun nodded. It was expected. Karen pulled more votes from the urn and read them aloud until there was a tie—six votes apiece for Shaun and Lisa. Lisa’s heart pounded. Shaun grew nervous. He had racked up quite a healthy alliance in his first three days. Surely they hadn’t backed out on him this early in the game. Karen revealed the thirteenth vote. Karen: Shaun.
When the next three votes revealed had Shaun written on them, it was obvious to all who had just become the first victim. Shaun knelt to gather his things. When Karen revealed Shaun yet again as the seventeenth vote out of twenty, she lowered the parchment and looked at Shaun gravely.
Karen: Shaun, you’ll need to bring me your torch.
Missie grew silent for the first time that evening and looked at the ground. So many people had already lied to her. Isaac glanced at her quickly, his heart thudding. Taylor nodded and smiled slightly. Lisa drew in a deep breath and sighed. Shaun took his torch and went to face Karen where his flame was doused more quickly than he would have preferred. Karen: Shaun, your tribe has spoken.
Without another wide Shaun turned and walked away, leaving his smoldering torch standing next to Karen. He never looked back as he crossed a rope bridge at the edge of the council area and disappeared into the night. Jenne smiled as Christopher winked at her. Beth sat quietly.
Karen: Now for the rest of you…your first tribal council can’t be this easy.
The area erupted in a sudden and brief commotion. Karen fought to suppress a grin.
Karen: The same ten people are still immune…and you will be voting out one more person tonight. Yes, folks, this is a double tribal council.
The castaways looked at each other frantically. What security Lisa had felt was completely gone. She had been the only other target for the evening. She knew there was no possible way she could survive a second vote. She looked around for those who had helped earlier. Christopher held out his hand and nodded as if to tell her it would be all right. Jake nudged Christopher in the arm and looked up to him with wide eyes.
Jake: Who? Christopher: Taylor. Jake: Taylor? Christopher: Yeah, let’s scare him. Jake: What about Tenz? I actually half like Taylor. Christopher: Tenz! Yes! We blame Missie’s alliance!
Jake turned quickly to Kyle who sat at his right.
Jake: Who, Kyle? Kyle: Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Lisa? I feel so bad! I don’t know who all is not immune! Who do you think? Jake: I think Tenzil. Kyle: Ok, but please don’t tell anyone. I don’t think he’s the one going. Jake: I won’t! It’s a secret! Kyle: We both voted Lisa!
They scarcely finished conspiring when Jamie grabbed Kyle by the shoulder and turned him around to face her quickly, while glancing around to make sure no one was watching. Luckily enough, the entire cast was all a buzz as to what to do for this dreaded second vote.
Jamie: Lisa!
Kyle said nothing as he looked around him. Jamie’s jaw was set and her eyes determined. When Kyle looked at her again, she nodded firmly.
Kyle: Ok.
Jamie looked at him sternly. He wasn’t as convincing as she’d like. “Lisa,” she repeated again and nodded emphatically until Kyle nodded in return.
Kyle: Lisa it is. We gotta figure out who the six for Shaun are.
At the same time, Taylor turned to look at Chris desparately.
Taylor: Who do we vote? Christopher: Ummm…we could do Tenzil? Taylor: I want to. Christopher: Do it! I will too. Taylor: Tell Jo to. Christopher: I did.
Taylor nodded then glanced over at Kyle. He mouthed quickly, “Vote Tenzil.” Kyle nodded in return.
Jake leaned forward and whispered in Drew’s ear.
Jake: Drew…who ya voting for? Drew: I don’t know, what do you think we should do? Jake: I have no idea. I’m hearing Tenzil. Will you vote Tenzil? Drew: Sure. Jake: Me, too.
Once Christopher had told JoJo who she should vote, she turned and conferred with Beth who sat next to her. Jenne sat quietly in front of them, oblivious of the conspiracy going on around her.
JoJo: Lisa? Angie? Tay ? Tell mama ! Beth: Scare Taylor? Or Tenzil! This should be interesting.
Tenzil smiled when Jamie sat back and winked at him. There were plenty of votes for Lisa and plenty of room to spook Taylor with an unexpected vote. That’s just what he would do. Once again they filed to the voting booth—all nineteen of them, and once again Karen left momentarily to retrieve the urn. Revealing the first vote, it was a shock to no one that it was Lisa’s name. Lisa looked down sadly. The next three votes were for Lisa. But a fifth vote shook the waters.
Karen: Fifth vote…Taylor. That’s four votes Lisa, one vote Taylor.
Taylor flinched and looked around quickly. Then anger set in. There were only two people around him that would cast such a vote, and those two people were Jon and Tenzil. By the grin on Tenzil’s face, Taylor had a good guess. But the next vote revealed brought about an audible gasp, particularly from Jenne Lotz and Jamie Drayson.
Karen: Sixth vote…Tenzil.
Tenzil sat quietly, his smile fading. Karen: Seventh vote…Tenzil.
Lisa’ name came up two more times, but when the next five votes were all for Tenzil, she felt a glimmer of hope once again. Christopher and Taylor had kept their promises in trying to save her. Tenzil’s grin had since turned into a snarl. Jenne reached up and patted his shoulder. She had no idea what was going on, and it was a first in her Holidays experience to not be on the complete inside of the vote. It was maddening at best. Much to Tenzil’s relief, the remaining votes read were thrown at Lisa, cementing a final tally of eleven, seven, and one to Lisa, Tenzil, and Taylor respectively.
Kyle glanced down at the ground nervously as he could almost hear Jamie fuming behind him. Beth was nervous, as well, as she had not voted Tenzil like she promised Christopher and JoJo she would. Missie glanced around in complete shock. First, Shaun had been taken by a landslide, and then Tenzil’s name had arisen from nowhere. There was most definitely a giant alliance that she knew nothing about. Ashley was filing her nails.
Karen: Lisa, you’ll need to bring me your torch.
And Lisa did just that. Just like Shaun’s, her flame was extinguished and Karen looked at her stoicly.
Karen: Your tribe has spoken.
Lisa turned and offered a smile to the castaways. Lisa: I’d like to thank those who gave me a chance in this game. To the rest of you…I hope you get beat. Thanks, Karen.
Lisa followed Shaun over the bridge and into the darkness, leaving behind a mass of silent hysteria. Karen looked over the group and watched them in their tamed chaos.
Karen: The rest of you can head back to camp.
So ended the first leg of the game. What started out to be a summer camp of love and games had turned into a blindside of mystery. Even the tightest of alliances had been split by the vote between Tenzil and Lisa. What had taken place on this third evening of the game could only mean one thing. Those cast as the greatest players of the Survivor: Holidays series were in for the longest and bumpiest ride of their lives. Tenzil glared as those around him began to arise and collect their things. He had been having a great time, but now he was raging.
Tenzil: The commander is back…

Shaun’s Final Words “To be honest with you, this is total horse shit. No more Mr. Nice Shaun. Time to say it how it is. It is unbelievable, first of all, that people would vote you off because you were "not around" during their convenient time schedule. If I knew what time people were around, I would have quit my job and made sure I was there. Second of all, people have courage to go out on their own. Way too many season 3 and 4 people who have their bonds fresh on their minds and are going to just pick off the others one by one. Why not just have a season 3/4 instead of all-stars. Allstars...what a crappy name. If it was all-stars then someone who was very vocal and made it far in my season wouldn't be voted off so early. Lastly, don't lie to my face and tell me so-and-so is the first boot and then backstab me. Tell me to my face. I'm a big boy. On the only positive note of all of this, Missie and I became chat-buddies again ... Taylor and I made up ... and I think I may have actually made a friend in Liz. Whatever, I guess my dream of winning a reward date with Stephenie was shot. Good luck Karen and you are a saint as usual. To the rest of you season 3 and 4 people who are gutless sheep....bahhh.” - Shaun Lisa’s Final Words “Well at least I wasn't voted off 1st this time. I don't know what it is, are people seeing me as a threat early on in the game, because let me tell you, I sure can be and some of them know I can play a good game. I have no hard feeling in this game, and I am grateful to the people who tried to save me, I hope they go farther in the game. I was talking to a good friend of mine last night about these game, he has played and he hosts a series, and I basically told him, there is no FUN in them anymore. Players are getting mean and nasty, and for what..a title of Soul Survivor...there is no money involved. I rather keep the friends that I have met from playing these games, than lose them by saying things about them that are not even true...that might have not went on here right now, just telling you how I feel. Good Luck to everyone in the game, I can't wait to see who comes and visit's the Lodge from time to time. Thanks to Karen for the games I have little played in. For those of you who I befriended in this game, please keep in contact! ~Ciao” - Lisa
